Pertamina NRE-Fikom Unpad: Practitioners-Academics Collaborate on Strategic Energy Transition Communication

Bandung, April 25, 2024 – Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) and the Faculty of Communication Science at Padjadjaran University (Fikom Unpad) have forged a strategic partnership in the dissemination of new and renewable energy as well as energy transition in Indonesia on Monday (4/22). The cooperation agreement was signed at the Auditorium of the Postgraduate School of Fikom Unpad by the Dean of Fikom Unpad, Dr. Dadang Rahmat Hidayat, S.Sos., S.H., M.Si, and the Corporate Secretary of Pertamina NRE, Dr. Dicky Septriadi.

The collaboration aims to integrate the expertise and resources of both parties, creating effective and comprehensive strategic communication programs that are easy to understand by students and the general public.

Dadang stated, "This collaboration is an important step to supporting the energy transition, a momentum towards renewable energy in Indonesia. Through an effective communication approach, we hope to enhance public understanding, including students, about the importance of energy transition for a sustainable future."

Meanwhile, Dicky conveyed, "Pertamina NRE, as part of the Pertamina Group, is committed to being a driving force in supporting the national energy transition. Collaboration with the Faculty of Communication Science at Unpad will strengthen our efforts in disseminating credible, engaging, and easily understandable information to educate the public about new and renewable energy."

Alongside the signing of the cooperation agreement, Dicky was appointed as a speaker in a Public Lecture attended by Management and students of Fikom Unpad. Dicky presented a lecture titled "Communication Strategies in the Development of New Renewable Energy."

During the event, Dicky also expressed Pertamina NRE's belief that the youth of Indonesia not only inherit the earth but also play a significant role in continuing the energy transition relay in Indonesia. Therefore, the younger generation must have a good understanding of energy transition and be enthusiastic about contributing to a sustainable energy future.

This collaboration program includes various activities such as formulating the curriculum for Strategic Communication of New Renewable Energy, a series of seminars, workshops, educational material development, and direct interaction with operational areas. Additionally, this collaboration will conduct public campaigns through mass media and digital platforms, addressing engaging topics on energy transition, aiming to make these topics part of society's everyday discussions.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), added, "The global trend is towards energy transition. To achieve the Indonesian Government's Net Zero Emission (NZE) target, Pertamina, as a leader in energy transition, needs support from all parties, including the academic community and business partners."

The collaboration between the Faculty of Communication Science at Unpad and Pertamina is expected to foster the spirit of practitioners and researchers to continuously optimize collaboration between higher education institutions and industries in supporting energy transition in Indonesia and achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2060.
