Pertamina's Transparency Commitment through Engagement with EITI

Pertamina's commitment to continue strengthening governance practices is implemented through direct support for EITI. The EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative) is a global standard for the good governance of oil, gas and mineral resources. EITI seeks to address the key governance issues in the extractive sectors. 

Since October 2022, Pertamina has become a Supporting Company of EITI with 21 global oil and gas companies as well as 43 global companies from other industries. Pertamina is also the first oil and gas company in Southeast Asia to support EITI. Pertamina commits to ensure compliance of all stipulated legal requirements, and upholds the highest standards of Good Corporate Governance practices, including accountability and transparency throughout the company's areas of operations.

Pertamina committed to disclose information by implementing international standards, including the EITI Standard in the EITI implementing countries where they operate. In Indonesia, reports are submitted through the subsidiaries of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi as requested and coordinated by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. In Iraq, the reports are submitted by PT Pertamina International EP as one of the upstream oil and gas contractors. In some countries, such as Gabon and Tanzania, the company Maurel & Prom, under PT Pertamina International EP, disclose payments to the governments in their annual reports. Not only supporting the disclosure of information, Pertamina also fully supports the transparency of beneficial ownership to encourage accountability and transparency practices in business activities that are in line with the EITI standard. Furthermore, Pertamina also supports the importance of transparency regarding governments' efforts to publicly disclose contracts and licenses that govern the exploration and exploitation of oil, gas and minerals in line with the EITI Standard. Pertamina has several contracts information available in public domain, especially in the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources website. Pertamina is working hand in hand with relevant authorities to the extent we can on the mechanics of the contract disclosure.

All support for EITI affirms our commitment to encourage and strengthen clean, transparent and ethical business practices in supporting anti-corruption behavior as a whole within the Pertamina Group environment.
