PALEMBANG - Throughout 2021, PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (PT KPI) Refinery Unit (RU) Plaju produced 42 thousand tons of plastic ores (polypropylene) with the product brand Polytam.
The achievement of Polytam’s production further strengthens the contribution of Pertamina Plaju Refinery in fulfilling plastic raw materials and reducing imports. At the same time, it meets the needs of the national plastic industry for high-quality polypropylene products.
Polytam is produced by Pertamina Plaju Refinery and launched in 1972, and the refinery technology increased its production capacity in 1993. With superior specifications, the product is produced with high quality, is more resistant to heat and oxidation, and has a whiter color.
The Polypropylene refinery at RU Plaju has a production capacity of 42 thousand tons in 7,944 hours of operation. It produces nearly 6 tons/hour of homopolymer pp in pellets.
As for the innovations carried out at the Polypropylene refinery, robotic bagging currently helps the packaging process. Polytam products are packaged in 25 kg and distributed to marketing units throughout Indonesia, such as Medan Palembang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, and Surabaya.
The quality of Polytam produced at Pertamina Plaju refinery has met several aspects of standardization, for example, the Certification of IMS ISO 14001:2004 RU III, Certification of QMS ISO 9001:2008 RU III, and Certification of National Accreditation Committee KAN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Refinery Laboratory.
The resulting Polytam is also confirmed to be halal with the Certification of ISO Integration & Halal Polytam. There is also Food Grade Certification from Center for Chemical and Packaging (BBKK), Ministry of Industry, and Improvement Color Quality Polytam for high-grade products.
Area Manager of Communication, Relations, & CSR of PT KPI RU Plaju, Siti Rachmi Indahsari, explained that Pertamina Plaju refinery produces not only high-quality fuel and LPG products but also petrochemical products.
“Even though Pertamina Plaju refinery is the oldest in Indonesia, the refinery technology can still operate reliably to meet the people’s needs,” said Rachmi.
According to Rachmi, the holding-subholding transformation has made the company grow with breakthroughs. “The organizational changes within Pertamina surely give us more challenges. We are given the trust to generate our own company to make a profitable, safe, and reliable factory,” explained Rachmi. *SHR&P PLAJU
