Commemorates the 64th Anniversary, Pertamina Achieves Accomplishments and Focuses on Energy Transition for Future Energy
Jakarta, December 11, 2021 – On its 64th Anniversary which is on Friday, 10 December 2021, PT Pertamina (Persero) affirms its commitment to focus on carrying out the energy transition to always be present in providing energy for Indonesia in the future.
Pertamina's President Director, Nicke Widyawati explained that the 64th Anniversary theme, that is Energizing Your Future, is a determination throughout the company's lines, which reflects the spirit to keep moving forward, providing unlimited energy to achieve sustainable goals for a shared future. According to her, Pertamina also upholds its commitment to maintain sustainable, adaptive, and resilient business prospects toward the global energy transition, is committed to environmental protection, and contributes to the realization of the nation's independence.
"With cleaner energy, more environmentally friendly business and operations, as well as environmental preservation, Pertamina strives to create a better future," she said during a virtual speech for the 64th Anniversary.
Nicke added that in 2021 Pertamina still faced the challenges of COVID-19. After facing a triple shock in 2020, this year's challenges continue with very drastic and rapid global changes and demands, and must be addressed quickly and accurately. She reiterated that according to President Jokowi Widodo’s direction, Pertamina as a state-owned company must respond to current conditions by focusing on doing energy transition to green energy.
“We have to prepare a grand design and energy transition roadmap immediately in a concrete, clear, and detailed manner. We must use this time as well as possible to strengthen the foundation towards the energy transition, and conduct studies on the most effective and efficient technologies," said Nicke.
Nicke said the President also advised Pertamina to maximize the development of electric cars to decrease oil imports and the current account deficit (CAD) would be healthier. On the investment side, we must open the door as wide as possible for investors and increase professionalism.
"This is to stimulate and to motivate us not to be complacent, because energy transition is a necessity, where fossil energy will soon reach its stopping point, and when that happens, Pertamina is ready with its new energy!" stated Nicke.
In her speech in front of all Pertamina employees, the President Director, who has just been named as one of the 100 most influential women in the world, also conveyed the achievements that have been recorded by Pertamina throughout 2021, including the success of Pertamina being the only Indonesian company to be included in the 2021 Global Fortune 500, the increase in the ESG ranking to position 15 out of 252 companies in Oil & Gas industry in the world, the formation of a Legal End State Holding for Oil and Gas with 6 (six) Subholdings, the progress of the National Strategic Project (PSN) and Government Assignments, up to the positive achievements of Pertamina's performance Group from upstream to downstream.
According to Nicke, there are still many achievements that have been achieved by Pertamina, including more than 250 awards in 2021. These awards are a form of recognition from stakeholders for the existence and performance of the company, meaning that Pertamina has an important value for stakeholders.
To all levels of Pertamina's management and officers, Nicke Widyawati advised: "At the end of this year, before 2021 ends, let's keep running to meet targets that may not have been achieved, stay enthusiastic and optimistic. Moving forward to realize our next aspiration, to become a world-class energy company, reach a market value of USD 100 billion, and continue to support Indonesia's energy independence," hoped Nicke.
On the momentum of the 64th anniversary, President Commissioner of Pertamina, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said, at the moment Pertamina must think more holistically because the world is buzzing with green energy. The world also needs a green certificate for all products. And, Pertamina has formulated it in the RJPP and RKAP, so that it becomes Energizing Your Future in the sense that green energy is the future.

Thank you and hopefully, we will continue to be used to make history, transform towards new and renewable energy, and we become the biggest petrochemical player in our own country,” stated Basuki.**
