As part of the Pertamina Goes to Campus series, Pertamina held an Essay Competition to gather innovative ideas in renewable energy and energy sustainability from thousands of students across Indonesia.

10 Students of the Pertamina Essay Competition Finalist are Ready to Compete at the 'Pertamina Goes to Campus' Closing Event

Jakarta, November 8, 2024 – Ten students from UI, ITB, UNDIP, UGM, and Unika Parahyangan have advanced to the final round of the Pertamina Goes to Campus Essay Competition (PGTC) after competing against 1,103 entries from across Indonesia. The best works will be announced during the PGTC closing event at Mulawarman University on November 14, 2024.

With the theme "Energizing The Nation," this essay competition for university students aims to explore innovative ideas in renewable energy and energy sustainability.

"This essay competition is part of the Pertamina Goes to Campus program to gather innovative ideas from young people to address energy challenges and sustainability. We believe this competition will sharpen the student's analytical and creative skills and present views that can contribute to a more sustainable energy transition. By involving participants from universities across Indonesia, we hope to create constructive discussions and inspire new solutions in the environmentally friendly energy sector," said the VP of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso.

Since registration opened, the competition has attracted more than 1,103 participants, both individuals and teams, from 205 campuses across 26 provinces. These are the ten finalists:

  1. Abraham Verrel (Institut Teknologi Bandung), Essay Title: Penerapan Green Hydrogen Berbasis Air Limbah dan Energi Terbarukan di Indonesia
  2. Almira Oktapazia (Universitas Diponegoro), Essay Title: WAVOE (Wave Volt Energy) : Inovasi Pemanfaatan Gelombang Laut Sebagai Sumber Energi Terbarukan di Sepanjang Wilayah Pesisir Pantai Indonesia
  3. Anggraini Ihza Rizkita (Universitas Gadjah Mada), Essay Title: E2W Revolusi Energi Listrik Berkelanjutan dengan Kolaborasi Microbial Electrolysis Cells (MEC) dan Organic Photovoltaic (OPV)
  4. Azka Khairani (Universitas Indonesia), Essay Title: Analisis Strategi Kebijakan Pengelolaan Sampah di Indonesia untuk Optimalisasi Pemanfaatan Energi Baru Terbarukan (EBT) melalui Anaerobic Digestion: Implikasi Keberhasilan Negara Swedia
  5. Brian Adhyaksa Putra Pratama (Universitas Diponegoro), Essay Title: Pengembangan Blue Ammonia Dalam Sektor Listrik : Pendanaan Green Sukuk dan Lelang Terbalik Untuk Energi Berkelanjutan
  6. Delfito Syafi Umar (Universitas Indonesia), Essay Title: Pemanfaatan Kotoran Ternak melalui Microbial Fuel Cell dan Baterai Natrium-Ion untuk Meningkatkan Ketersediaan Listrik Berkelanjutan di Wilayah 3T
  7. Ihsanti Tsania Fajriati (Universitas Gadjah Mada), Essay Title: Teknologi Integrasi Water Pumping System dengan Panel Surya dalam Pemenuhan Kebutuhan Pertanian dan Air Bersih Warga Gunungkidul Yogyakarta
  8. Luthfita Keysha A.G, (Universitas Gadjah Mada), Essay Title: AeroLumi: Solusi Cerdas untuk Energi Berkelanjutan dan Penerangan Ramah Lingkungan
  9. Marchel Manondang Manullang (Universitas Indonesia), Essay Title: Analisis Potensi Hemat Energi dalam Penggunaan Air Lubrication System (ALS) untuk Kapal Niaga serta Optimalisasi Pengaruh Distorsi Udara terhadap Efisiensi ALS
  10. Steven Valentino (Universitas Katolik Parahyangan), Essay Title: Sinergi Laut dan Matahari: Masa Depan Energi Hijau dari Pembangkit Listrik Hybrid Rumput Laut dan Solar.

The PGTC 2024 essay competition opened on May 3, 2024, coinciding with the PGTC kickoff. The competition is open to active students from all public and private universities in Indonesia, from D1 to Bachelor's degree levels.

Entries closed on October 7, 2024, followed by the screening and semifinal rounds conducted privately by Pertamina.

The ten finalists will have the opportunity to visit Pertamina's operational area in Balikpapan and participate in the final event at Mulawarman University in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, on November 14, 2024. The first-place winner will present their work at the event.
