Balikpapan, December 11, 2021 – Pertamina, through PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) Balikpapan Unit, successfully held a large-scale emergency simulation (Monday, 06/12). This large-scale simulation involves 1,000 personnel. Not only involving the internal workers of KPI Balikpapan Unit and Pertamina Group in Balikpapan City, but this simulation also involved the community, Balikpapan Police, Kodim 0905 Balikpapan, and other stakeholders.
The simulation also involves equipment, including four units of Trailer Foam, two-unit of Fire trucks, one unit of Foam Cannon, and 1 Unit of Ground. The simulation carried out is a fire incident in 2 product tanks and related to community demonstrations.
"By involving many parties, the simulation activity carried out today could be the largest," said the Acting GM of KPI Unit Balikpapan, Wahyu Sulistyo Wibowo.
Wahyu explained that the involvement of these stakeholders would further improve the Pertamina team. "We train Pertamina's preparedness both within Pertamina and with external stakeholders, especially in Forkopimda for handling emergency conditions like this," he explained.
Wahyu added that this simulation was necessary because Pertamina is more concerned with refinery areas. But if there were disturbances outside the Pertamina area, of course, it would require all parties. We cannot work alone but need support from the Balikpapan City Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).
"This is the largest possible exercise until emergency level 2. We hope it can be a lesson that is also monitored by the head office. Our shortcomings are here will be a learning record in other operating units," he explained.
Meanwhile, Dandim 0905 Balikpapan Colonel Inf Faizal Rizal said this exercise involved all stakeholders from the City Government, Police, and Kodim, related to problems faced by both internal and external threats.
"Internally, for example, there was a refinery fire. Externally, for example, there was a demonstration. It is something that we must overcome together. Therefore, it does not affect the community," said Faizal Rizal.
Faizal added that this simulation also adds to the knowledge of security forces. "This will also be our SOP guide for what the TNI and Polri should do if there is a fire. If there is a demonstration, we will help isolate the existing problems and provide understanding to the public about the actual incident, so that the public understands and will not cause any casualties," he explained.
Also attending the simulation activity was the Head of Balikpapan Police, Kombes Pol. Vincentius Thirdy Hadmiarso, and Acting Assistant II for Economic Development and Welfare of Balikpapan City, Arbain Side, and representatives of other Pertamina stakeholders.**
