Jakarta, December 19, 2021 – Pertamina announced the 19 national winners of the 2021 Pertamina Jurnalistik Award (AJP) virtually on Saturday, December 18, 2021.
The AJP 2021 winners from the six categories have gone through a rigorous selection process from thousands of entries. It was assessed in stages, starting from the Territory to the National Jury.
Pertamina also announced the winner of the Best of The Best AJP 2021 won by Qodrat Al Qadri, the photographer Analisadaily from the Territory of Northern Sumatra (Sumbagut).
At AJP 2021, Pertamina, for the first time, gave appreciation to 60 potential journalists from all categories.
The Best of The Best winner is entitled to a cash prize of IDR 50 million. The first-place winners at the national level for each category won IDR 20 million, the 2nd place winners are each entitled to IDR 15 million, and the 3rd place winners are each entitled to IDR 10 million.
Journalists with potentials receive prizes of IDR 1.5 million each. All prize taxes are borne to Pertamina.
Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Pertamina noted that the work of AJP 2021 participants has increased compared to last year, even compared to before Covid-19. AJP 2021 participants recorded 2,364 works originating from 10 territories namely Sumbagut, Central Sumatra, South Sumatra, West Java (JBB), Central Java (JBT), East Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara (Jatimbalinus), Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku-Papua and DKI Jakarta.
President Director of Pertamina Nicke Widyawati expressed appreciation and congratulations to the winners of AJP 2021. AJP 2021 is part of a series of Pertamina's 64th Anniversary, its second year held virtually.
"I give high appreciation to media personnel throughout Indonesia who are very enthusiastic about participating and being part of AJP 2021. The pandemic has not dampened the creativity and productivity of all of my friends to keep up the enthusiasm to follow and be part of AJP, " said Nicke.
Nicke added, as a state-owned enterprise and a world-class energy company, Pertamina is always required to be at the forefront of encouraging national economic growth. On the other hand, Pertamina must also be in line with the global oil and gas business trend, which is invigorating the energy transition towards renewable energy, clean energy, and environmentally friendly.
"Although we are still facing a pandemic, Pertamina continues to carry out its task of distributing energy throughout the country to ensure energy availability so that the development movement and the economy continue to grow," added Nicke.
AJP 2021, continued Nicke, cannot be separated from Pertamina's desire and commitment to encourage media personnel to produce quality journalistic works and encourage the public to realize national energy resilience, independence, and sovereignty is our shared responsibility.

President Commissioner of Pertamina, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, expressed his appreciation and congratulations for the successful implementation of AJP 2021.
"Congratulations to all the winners, continue to work together to realize national energy resilience, independence, and sovereignty," said Basuki.
Basuki added, for Pertamina, media coverage has two interrelated sides. First, the publication of Pertamina's performance to the public in managing and distributing energy to all corners of the country. Second, to control the movement and dynamics of Pertamina so that it remains on the track as a state-owned enterprise and a world-class energy company.
