3,000 Eco Run Participants Support Pertamina in Reducing Carbon Emissions

Jakarta, December 13, 2021 - Pertamina held the Pertamina Eco Run 2021 5K Real Time Run hybrid event at Taman Patra Residence, Kuningan, Jakarta on Sunday, December 12, 2021. The Pertamina Eco Run 2021 was participated by 3,000 participants from all over Indonesia.

On this occasion, Deputy President Commissioner of Pertamina Pahala N. Mansury attended and joined the run, along with Pertamina’s Holding and Subholding Directors.

President Director of Pertamina Nicke Widyawati in her virtual speech expressed his gratitude and highest appreciation to the runners who were enthusiastically involved in the Pertamina Eco Run 2021 event, both in-person and virtual.

"This is the second year for Pertamina to conduct Pertamina Eco run virtually. However, the enthusiasm of the fellow runners who joined in this event is remarkable. There are 3,000 who have joined and have started running to increase the kilometers, and this morning we will also run live together," said Nicke.

Moreover, Nicke explained the meaning of the Eco Run 2021 theme which is Run for The Earth. "This theme is of course in line with global commitments and also Indonesia's commitment to reduce carbon emissions, which is targeted by the government by 29%-41% in 2030 and we are targeting to achieve net-zero emissions in 2060," she explained.

With global policies and government policies that have been launched, Pertamina has also carried out various programs to reduce carbon emissions. One of them is through this Pertamina Eco Run. Each runner who participated contributes in reducing at least 5 kg of CO2 equivalent to carbon emissions from the surrounding environment or equivalent to driving a car for 50 km.

Various programs are carried out in all Pertamina units, including waste management and flora and fauna conservation. No less than 87 animals have been preserved, 52 plants, and in each unit of the Pertamina refinery, 300 thousand mangrove seedlings have been planted.

Furthermore, Deputy President Commissioner of Pertamina Pahala N. Mansury and the Board of Directors of Pertamina Holding and Subholding conducted a planting trembesi trees session.

In addition, the Pertamina Eco Run 2021 event was also enlivened by performances from DJ Andezz and door prizes with various attractive prizes.**
