30 Best University Startups Ready to Compete for Hundreds of Millions in Funding at Pertamuda 2024

Jakarta, November 3, 2024 – PT Pertamina (Persero), through Pertamuda 2024, has selected the 30 best teams to advance to the Demoday round of "Pertamuda Seed and Scale 2024." Pertamuda (Pertamina Muda) Seed and Scale is a business idea competition that aims to develop the startup ecosystem and foster sustainable innovation from Indonesia's young talent.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that the 30 finalists from 3,245 applicants from various universities across Indonesia were chosen after a strict selection process.

"Pertamuda Seed and Scale 2024 is Pertamina's flagship business idea competition, now in its fourth year. It is a tangible form of Pertamina's support for developing young entrepreneurs in Indonesia," Fadjar said.

Fadjar added that the 30 finalists are divided into two categories: 10 participants in the Energy Founder category and 20 participants in the Early Stage Startup category. These finalists will participate in the Pertamuda Seed and Scale 2024 Demoday in Surabaya on November 18-19, 2024.

"The finalists come from 21 of Indonesia's top universities in East Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, West Java, Jakarta, and North Sumatra," Fadjar added.

According to Fadjar, the finalists who make it to the Demoday will be further narrowed to 15, competing for the TOP 3 in each category. Those who make it to the TOP 3 will receive development funds worth hundreds of millions of rupiah, including funds for their universities.

"This program focuses on developing the startup ecosystem and encouraging sustainable innovation from Indonesia's young talent. It aligns with the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology's call to strengthen collaboration between universities and industries in accelerating national entrepreneurship growth," Fadjar concluded.

Pertamuda Seed and Scale is an annual event in its fourth year. The program focuses on developing the startup ecosystem and promoting sustainable innovation among young Indonesian talent. It aligns with the Government's Asta Cita Program, which emphasizes strengthening human resource development through collaboration between educational institutions, the government, and industry to enhance the use of digital and technological advancements.
