Jakarta, August 14, 2020 - Within the 75th year of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia, PT Pertamina (Persero) has confirmed itself as a state-owned enterprise that has transformed into a world-class energy company. Not only has its operational areas penetrated many countries, but Pertamina's products have also penetrated the global market.
Pertamina’s task to carry out the management of state energy is an integral part of the nation's history. In the 75th year of Indonesia's independence, Pertamina has been able to prove itself as a global energy company through company operations and penetration of its products to many countries.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, said that in the upstream sector, the company's overseas operations were carried out through Pertamina International EP (PIEP) sub-holding. It has penetrated more than 13 countries while continuing to explore and look for new sources and reserves through exploration activities abroad.
"The current exploration activity which has penetrated many countries is a record which proves that Pertamina has become a global energy company," said Fajriyah.
In the midstream, continued Fajriyah, the sub-holding PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional recently, has also managed a refinery project on a more massive scale to meet the growing demand for cleaner energy in an economically, socially and environmentally responsible manner. Pertamina is also focusing on the management of the Mega Project Refinery, which consists of the existing refinery revitalization program, Residual Fuel Catalytic Cracking, RFCC Cilacap, and the Langit Biru Cilacap Project or PLBC. Other ongoing projects are the RDMP (Refinery Development Master Plan) project in Balikpapan, Cilacap, Dumai and Balongan, and the GRR (Gross Root Refinery) project or new refineries that still have open opportunities for global cooperation.
"In the global market, Pertamina can answer market needs with their products such as lubricants, fuel oil (BBM), and petrochemicals. Pertamina's lubricant products have been able to penetrate the market in 17 countries, and we also have one production unit in Thailand with a capacity of more than 535 million liters per year," said Fajriyah.
Additionally, Pertamina, through PT Pertamina Lubricants, continues to strengthen its position as a world-class lubricant company. Since 2015, PT Pertamina Lubricants has been aggressively looking for overseas opportunities and penetrating foreign markets so that the reach of Pertamina's lubricants, both automotive and industrial products, can be recognized and available for the people and industry in the world.
Fajriyah said, by receiving various certifications and approvals from world machine manufacturers, both OEM and industrial machines/heavy equipment, PT Pertamina Lubricants has also expanded to 17 countries in the world. Pertamina also built cooperation with local companies for distributorship and supply of local lubricant brands.
"Also, to build the image of a world-class lubricant company, PT Pertamina Lubricants is partnering with the world's supercar manufacturer Automobili Lamborghini as a Technical Partner to develop Pertamina's world-class lubricant products. The cooperation as a technical partner lasts until 2021," said Fajriyah.
Meanwhile, Pertamina's business network in the field of aircraft refueling, said Fajriyah, has penetrated European countries, Australia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Central Asia with diverse consumers ranging from general aircraft, Presidential aircraft, VVIP, aircraft charters, and also delivery planes.
As for Petrochemicals, Pertamina is also focusing on developing products to penetrate the export market to Malaysia, India, China, and Europe. The main Petrochemical products that have been sold are Green Coke Slack Wax, EXDO-4. In 2019, Pertamina also successfully started exporting 4,000 barrels of SF-05 products to Algeria, a smooth fluid chemical for drilling.
