Through the Partnership Program, coaching continues both in-person and online. This effort is like a baton, where the benefits can also be felt by people under the auspices of Pertamina's fostered MSEs.
Yana Suryana also felt this benefit. The owner of the Yansurbaby business, which produces various baby clothes, has experienced many ups and downs in running his business. Since its establishment in 1992, the business has experienced three periods of economic crisis: in 1998, 2008, and 2020.
"The crisis in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic affected my business the most. In fact, the production was stopped for 3 months. Thank God, there is business capital assistance from Pertamina. In the end my business can get back up again," he explained.
With a passion for doing business and his commitment to providing jobs for the community, Yana is slowly but steadily rebuilding his business. Apart from working capital, Pertamina also provides a lot of assistance and training related to marketing efforts. "The knowledge that I can immediately apply and the impact is quite large, my business is starting to stabilize again," he added.
Now, the business based on Jalan Slamet 2 No. 36 Bandung has experienced many positive changes. The production capacity of baby clothes has increased to 150 percent. Initially 1000 dozen/month, now it can reach 2500 dozen per month. To produce with this amount, Yana empowers 16 people, the majority of whom are housewives, to help him.
In producing baby clothes, Yana pays close attention to the quality. "Our products are made from materials that have been tested by BSN. It is also have been certified by the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for baby clothes. Therefore, they are comfortable and safe for your little one," he said. It is comparable to the income Yana earns every month, which is around IDR 175 million.
Regarding marketing, Yana has implemented many new things in his business. He has increased the intensity of digital marketing through social media and websites created by him. As a result, its marketing reach has extended from its initial scope of Java and Sumatra to all of Indonesia.
Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, appreciated Yana's steps. According to her, several parties must work together to find a way out of the pandemic's economic difficulties, including MSE's work. "MSEs usually have workers, workers have families to support. Therefore, it is important to pay more attention to MSEs," she said.
According to Fajriyah, through the Partnership Program, Pertamina wants to present the energy that drives the economy--energy that becomes fuel and energy that generates sustainable growth. It is also implementing the 8th goal of SDGs to provide decent work and support economic growth.
