Jakarta, September 14, 2024 - PT Pertamina (Persero) received the Marketeers Editor’s Choice award for the Pertamina New UMK Academy 2024 program in the SME Enabler Program of the Year category. The New UMK Academy 2024 is an enhancement of the UMK Academy conducted by Pertamina for the past five years.
The Marketeers Editor’s Choice Award (MECA) is an event that curates brands over the past year, recognizing those who made creative and innovative breakthroughs in marketing.
The Pertamina UMK Academy 2024, which comes with a new format, is considered by the Marketeers Editorial Board as a coaching program that encourages MSMEs to adapt to the evolving marketing landscape.
The training encourages MSMEs to keep innovating and to become accustomed to digital technology through gamification.
In addition, the UMK Academy is a sustainable program with a broad participant reach, delivering real impact to the community.
CEO of Marketeers and MarkPlus Inc., Iwan Setiawan, considers this a serious effort by Pertamina to help SMEs become more competitive amid increasingly tight competition and challenging market conditions. “These breakthroughs create a brand story worth sharing. A strong brand story has two key elements: innovation and inspiration,” he explained.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, expressed his gratitude for the award given to Pertamina. This award proves that Pertamina, as a national energy company, is focused on the energy business while actively empowering SMEs .which are the backbone of Indonesia's economy.
The program, under the tagline "Bringing New Energy, Towards Advanced SMEs" in 2024, aims to encourage SMEs to be more innovative and creative in production and marketing, helping them progress more quickly, even to the international level.
“We are grateful for this award. It motivates us to continue contributing to the resilient, high-quality, innovative, and independent SMEs,” Fadjar said.
Pertamina UMK Academy is a structured, tiered, integrated, and sustainable coaching, training, and mentoring program conducted across various regions in Indonesia. Its core development curriculum includes Go Modern, Go Digital, Go Online, and Go Global, integrating Go Green principles into every program.
Since its inception in 2020, the enthusiasm of SMEs to participate in this program has steadily increased. This year, more than 8,500 SMEs across Indonesia registered, with 1,686 selected to participate in the program. Pertamina continues to innovate and make breakthroughs to enhance the value and benefits SMEs gain from this program.
“With intensive mentoring, we hope that UMK Academy participants will become increasingly successful, with growth in staff numbers, production capacity, revenue, increased community involvement, and obtaining national and international certifications, eventually breaking into the global market,” he added.
Pertamina is also preparing the next stage of the UMK Academy program, called the Pertapreneur Aggregator. It is a collaborative program where mentored SMEs will mentor other SMEs by building collaborative networks among SMEs in their vicinity.
