Jakarta, April 8, 2024 - While most Indonesian people enjoy their holidays at the end of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 H, Pertamina's energy sector workers continue to work in the oil and gas fields. Under the scorching sun and the roar of machines onshore and offshore, they work tirelessly, ensuring the national energy supply remains intact.
Ayu Putri Lestari is one of them. She is a Pertamina officer from the Upstream Sub-holding of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, who works in the Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) area. This Eid is her second time serving in the Rokan oil fields, far from her beloved family in her hometown.
"It is indeed sad not being able to gather with family on special occasions like Eid. However, that feeling is replaced with pride and great responsibility. I know my job here is crucial to maintain national energy resilience," Ayu expressed.
Ayu works as the Duri Operations Team (Operation Representative), ensuring that field facilities function properly and confirming the well status in the field. For her, celebrating Eid al-Fitr in the oil fields is not a hindrance. She shares her time with other colleagues to allow them to reunite with their families.
"Last year, I celebrated Eid with my family, so I took the initiative to give my colleagues a chance to gather with theirs," she added.
Similar to Ardhi and his colleagues, who work in one of Pertamina Hulu Energi's offshore oil and gas fields. They are tasked with drilling areas that produce crude oil to fulfill domestic refinery needs.
"We work and operate here not just to fulfill our work obligations. It is proof of our struggle, where we must be able to befriend and endure longing for our families for broader interests," Ardhi stated.
Ardhi and his colleagues believe that despite the distance and time apart, family ties serve as a source of strength and inspiration to continue advancing national energy resilience. They willingly forego holidays to maintain national energy stability.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that the duties and responsibilities carried out by Pertamina officers in the upstream oil and gas sector are crucial and strategic, as they are the frontline of crude oil supply that strengthens national energy resilience.
"They have sacrificed family togetherness to ensure crude oil production continues and become heroes for Indonesia's energy resilience," concluded Fadjar.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
