Samarinda, November 14, 2024 – Pertamina Goes to Campus 2024 (PGTC) officially concluded today, Thursday (14/11), at its 17th and final campus, Universitas Mulawarman in Samarinda. At the closing event at Universitas Mulawarman, PT Pertamina (Persero) highlights the importance of renewable energy and energy transition to strengthen national energy resilience. The event was lively as it also served as the occasion to announce the Essay Competition and Video Competition for university students across Indonesia.
Vice President of Stakeholder Relations & Management of Pertamina, Rifky Rahman Yusuf, stated that PGTC was created to bridge Pertamina as a state-owned enterprise and industry leader with educational institutions and the younger generation. The PGTC series began in May 2024 at the Institut Teknologi Bandung and now concludes at Universitas Mulawarman. Throughout the program, Pertamina visited various campuses across Indonesia and even Singapore to engage in dialogue with Indonesian students studying there. During these visits, Pertamina actively encouraged students to help build a sustainable energy future in Indonesia.
“We created PGTC to share up-to-date information about Pertamina’s green energy efforts with universities and students. We hope this will spark discussions and provide constructive feedback to advance sustainable energy development in the future,” he said at the Pertamina Goes To Campus event with the theme “Energizing Your Future Together” at Universitas Mulawarman, Samarinda, on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
Meanwhile, the Rector of Universitas Mulawarman, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Abdunnur, M.Si., IPU., ASEAN Eng, appreciated Pertamina for organizing PGTC, as it aligns with efforts to enhance collaboration between industry and academia. Furthermore, Universitas Mulawarman had the honor of hosting the final and main event of PGTC, featuring various exciting activities.
“It is an honor for Universitas Mulawarman to be the final location and host the closing ceremony of Pertamina Goes To Campus 2024. I extend my gratitude for the opportunity, and this marks a step for Universitas Mulawarman to build synergy with Pertamina in developing the nation's next generation to create a golden generation by 2045. Together with Pertamina, we hope to continue enhancing this collaboration,” he concluded.
The PGTC event at Universitas Mulawarman featured various engaging activities, including discussions with industry leaders in two sessions: “Mendorong Masa Depan Indonesia: Memaksimalkan Transmisi untuk Dampak Besar” and “Meningkatkan Potensi Untuk Dampak Keberlanjutan.” There was also an exhibition showcasing Pertamina’s various business lines, offering interactive demos and information on the latest energy ventures. Besides that, a Collaboration Center was set up as an information hub on Pertamina’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, human resources, and small-medium enterprise (SME) development.
One of the talk show speakers, Head of the Presidential Communications Office, Hasan Nasbi, mentioned that the public lacks understanding of national energy resilience and the energy transition. Therefore, the PGTC program serves as a platform for Pertamina to inform and educate so the knowledge can be spread to the public through students at the 17 universities where PGTC took place, providing the latest information on energy in Indonesia and globally.
“In my opinion, what Pertamina is doing is excellent for educating students and young people in Indonesia. Besides the energy sources we have, like oil, gas, and coal, we need to focus on renewable energy, one of which is palm oil. You cannot plant palm oil in the sea; it has to be on land. So, it is crucial to raise public awareness of energy resilience through activities like this,” Hasan Nasbi said.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that PGTC is an initiative by Pertamina to share inspiring stories on campus. The program aims to enhance students’ understanding of Pertamina’s role in the energy sector and development. It also seeks to raise awareness, boost engagement, and facilitate collaboration between the company and the academic sector.
“We hope to hold PGTC again next year with a broader reach and more locations. With a wider scope, more students can get involved in PGTC, channel innovative ideas, and strengthen the synergy between education and industry,” Fadjar added.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina’s business lines and operations.**
