Jakarta, April 21, 2021 - PT Pertamina (Persero) fully supports the Perempuan Pertamina Tangguh Inspiratif Wibawa Integritas (PERTIWI) to make achievements up to the global level and realize the principle of gender equality in the company environment.
Like other global energy companies that accommodate the community of women workers, PERTIWI was formed as an inclusive forum for Pertamina's women workers to increase their abilities and prepare a cadre of leaders to contribute to society and the global community.
Nicke Widyawati, as the President Director of Pertamina, carried out the launch of PERTIWI, which coincides with the Kartini Day celebration on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. It was welcomed proudly by all Pertamina women workers from all business lines. PERTIWI is led by Emma Sri Martini, who currently serves as Pertamina's Finance Director.
"This is a benchmark result in a global company, we must apply an affirmative policy. I support the formation of the PERTIWI community that becomes a joint movement for gender equality. It is not a red carpet for women, but it provides equal opportunities for women and men to improve their abilities so that they can take part in any role in companies, national and global communities," said Nicke Widyawati, who is also a PERTIWI advisor.
To achieve gender equality, continued Nicke, we must move both women and men. Female workers must improve their competence, and male workers must pave the way so that many women whose positions are still below can occupy leadership positions equal to men. "Pertamina is looking for great and talented women who want to lead the company.
The chairwoman of Pertiwi, Emma Sri Martini, explained that PERTIWI would play an active role in empowering women through personal and professional development activities to support Pertamina's business and future sustainability energy.
The Pertiwi Community, said Emma, has a mission to create gender equality in the work environment and career development. Building leadership capabilities in preparing future leaders and supporting target achievement for companies and the Ministry of SOE at the national and global levels. PERTIWI also seeks to increase internal and external synergy to support the implementation of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) point 5 related to gender equality and optimizing the contribution of female officers in creating a prosperous social environment.
"Reflecting on what world energy companies are doing to increase the sense of belonging of female workers, Pertamina has formed PERTIWI. The goal is for 15 percent of Pertamina's top-level management to be female, based on the existing number of female employees, which is 17 percent of the total workforce," Emma explained.**
