Pertamina Eco RunFest 2024: A Running Event for Environmental, Community, and MSME Empowerment
Jakarta, November 14, 2024 – PT Pertamina (Persero) shows its commitment to environmental conservation through the Pertamina Eco RunFest 2024, scheduled for Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.
Under the Energizing the Change theme, this event marks Indonesia's first carbon-neutral running event, supporting the country's decarbonization efforts. The goal is to achieve carbon neutrality, in which the carbon emissions produced are balanced by those absorbed. All emissions will be accurately calculated using Greenomina, a carbon calculation app developed by Pertamina employees.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, the Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, stated that through Eco RunFest 2024, Pertamina aims to educate and raise public awareness about environmental conservation by promoting carbon neutrality.
The event will involve 21,000 participants and is expected to reduce emissions by 1,533 tons of CO₂e, with each participant averaging 73 Kg CO₂e. These emissions stem from participant transportation, food waste, energy, and water utilization during the event. Eco-friendly facilities will be provided, including stations to reduce single-use plastics, environmentally friendly materials, and responsible waste management.
"The Pertamina Eco RunFest 2024 positively impacts both the environment and the community by neutralizing the carbon produced, achieving carbon neutrality," Fadjar explained.
The event also supports the empowerment of Indonesian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Pertamina will feature dozens of MSMEs in the Eco Market, along with Eco Stamp and Eco Print Art activities during Eco RunFest 2024.
"In addition to benefiting the environment and community, this event provides a platform to empower MSMEs and boost their growth," added Fadjar.
According to him, Pertamina Eco RunFest is a concrete step towards realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and demonstrating Pertamina's commitment to a greener environment while enhancing local MSMEs’ competitiveness.
"Through this event, we invite the public to contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment, raise sustainability awareness, and support Indonesian MSMEs’ advancement," Fadjar emphasized.
Pertamina Eco RunFest 2024 will feature Eco Run activities in various categories: the 21K Half Marathon, 10K Run, 5K Fun Run, and 1.5K Family Run. The event is open to all age groups, including children who can participate in the Family Run with an adult companion.
Moreover, Eco Fest will host the Energizing Music Festival, showcasing artists from various genres across three main stages. Performers include Happy Asmara, Hivi, Tipe-X, Tiara Andini, Tulus, Maliq & D’Essentials, Sal Priadi, Mahalini, Juicy Luicy, Feel Koplo, Vidi Aldiano, Nadin Amizah, Reality Club, and Vierratale. Attendees can also participate in Eco Workshops that promote eco-friendly creativity and are open to all age groups, from children to adults. The Eco Market area will feature numerous vendors offering food, beverages, and environmentally friendly products.
