Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia: Energy to Skyrocket

February 10, 2022 – PT Pertamina (Persero) officially became the main supporter of the MotoGP event in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). President Director of Pertamina Nicke Widyawati said that the 2022 MotoGP racing event was a new energy for Indonesia to skyrocket.

Nicke said this is according to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo’s direction regarding the development of 5 super-priority tourism areas, where the Mandalika area of NTB is one of them. Pertamina then collaborated with the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) in developing the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit. This is a form of support for Mandalika to position itself as a tourism area on an international scale.

"After the collaboration at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, this time we complete the collaboration by supporting the international event that will be held at Mandalika, namely MotoGP. It is named 'Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia' as a form of complete support from SOEs," said Nicke, Jakarta, Wednesday (9/2/2022).

According to Nicke, the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia event is a source of pride for the Indonesian people, especially since the last MotoGP race event was held in Indonesia in 1997 or about 25 years ago. For this reason, this event is hoped to become a momentum to show the world that Indonesia can manage the impact of the pandemic very well.

"Of course, we hope that with the development of this event, we can quickly rise after the pandemic and become an encouragement for all Indonesian people," said Nicke.

Nicke also said that the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia in Mandalika was very good momentum for Indonesia in international scope. Because this event will be broadcasted live in more than 200 countries, 428 million households, and 7 million viewers. This event is hoped can also create a good multiplier effect for Indonesia.

"This is the time for us to show the world the beauty of Indonesia, in which this is the first circuit with an extraordinary view and is an advantage that can attract tourists from all countries to come to Mandalika. We can also do branding and open markets up for our products internationally and bring MSME products to the global market," stated Nicke.

For this reason, the theme raised at the MotoGP racing event, which will be held on March 18-20, 2022, in Mandalika is 'Energy to Skyrocket.' "Pertamina invites the entire nation to wake up and prepare themselves, just like the riders in MotoGP who soar to go fast and are confident to beat all the challenges that exist," said Nicke.**
