Lombok, September 28, 2024 – The prestigious Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia event brings a new spirit to Lombok's motorsport and tourism industries. However, the positive impact extends beyond that, with hundreds of local workers of various ages actively involved and participating in making this international event a success.
Local workers from Lombok are directly involved in organizing the 2024 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, taking on responsibilities ranging from race team marshals, ticketing officers, security personnel, and waste management to hospitality staff. The community members involved are proud to take on these duties.
One of them is Alwan Hafizin, a marshal working in the paddock area of the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit. In his daily life, Alwan is a vendor, and he expressed his pride in being part of the event while sharing his happiness about earning extra income.
"I am grateful to Pertamina for organizing this event; it has helped improve the local economy, and I have personally felt the benefits," Alwan said.
In addition to boosting the economy, participating as staff in this event also provides the opportunity to gain experience in an international event, as experienced by a university student named Muhammad Rizky, who worked as a security officer.
"I am still in my first semester, and I want to gain experience by participating in an international event. As hosts, we want to contribute to an international event held in our backyard. Plus, we young people can earn income," Rizky explained.
Meanwhile, Aira, a ticketing officer, saw the event as an opportunity to build connections and contribute to an international event. She emphasized her commitment to giving her best for the event's success.
"At this event, we meet many people from all over the world. It is a valuable experience for networking. Being a ticketing officer is not easy, but I am prepared to give my best for the smooth running of the event up until its peak," Aira shared.
VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, explained that the expected economic impact of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia could also involve local workers. Every year, this event successfully engages the local Lombok community to participate in making this international event a success.
"We hope that with the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, we can continue to involve local workers, provide them with income, and offer them new experiences. The hope is that this will be a valuable experience for them and that future events will create even more job opportunities," Fadjar said.
