Pertamina’s Upstream Subholding 2D Seismic Survey Vibroseis Reaches 10,000 Points

February 8, 2022 – Pertamina’s Upstream Subholding carried out a 2D Vibroseis Seismic Survey that reaches 10,000 Vibroseis Points from the target of 25,000 Vibroseis Points in three provinces on Java Island, including West Java, Central Java, and East Java. It covers 29 regencies, 193 sub-districts, and 743 villages with a track length of 1,000 KM.

The 2D Vibroseis Sub-Volcanic Seismic Survey is one of Pertamina's Upstream Subholding Exploration efforts in unlocking new oil and gas resources potential by collecting subsurface data in the sub-volcanic area. This is as a fulfillment for the Jambi Merang WK Open Area definite work commitment (KKP) for the 2nd year.

"The 2D Vibroseis Seismic Survey in West Java has been completed. Most areas in Central Java have started topographical work in parts of East Java. The vibroseis survey runs safely, smoothly, implementing strict COVID-19 prevention protocols and has recorded 552.528 safe man-hours without accidents and incidents," said Medy Kurniawan, Exploration Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi as Pertamina's Upstream Subholding, Monday (07/02).

VP Exploration Technical Excellence & Coordination of Subholding Upstream Pertamina, Farid Rochmadianto, explained that to create excellent operations in the Exploration environment, Pertamina Upstream Subholding carried out Audit and Review of Operational Performance Activities for 2D Vibroseis Seismic Surveys in the Caruban area, which is currently a basecamp (command center) (05/02).

"This audit and review of operational performance have marked the progress of Vibroseis above 10,000 vibroseis points from the planned target of 25,000 vibroseis points," said Farid.

Through the Audit and Review of the Performance of the 2D Vibroseis Seismic Survey Activity, it is expected to improve the quality of work while complying with HSSE and implementing AKHLAK values in all operational activities. Farid also expressed his appreciation for the positive performance that was achieved through OTOBOS (On Time On Budget On Schedule).

“Thank you to all officers and those who have supported the 2D Sub-Volcanic Seismic Survey. This survey activity implemented one of the AKHLAK values, namely Harmonic, where the seismic survey activity is very close to community settlements and local stakeholders," he said.

In the implementation of 2D Vibroseis seismic activities, the Exploration Function Line, HSSE, Corporate Secretary Subholding Upstream Pertamina, and Elnusa always carry out direct outreach activities to the community and relevant stakeholders in each region.

"In addition to socialization before the implementation of the work, restoration and reclamation efforts in the affected area must be done before leaving the seismic survey location," added Farid.

Farid also reminded the importance of Covid-19 prevention in the 2D Seismic Vibroseis survey. "The 5M general protocol (Wearing Masks, Washing Hands, Keeping Distance, Staying away from Crowds and Restricting Mobility), special protocols for entering the survey area with quarantine and PCR must be implemented and enforced to minimize the spread of Covid-19," he concluded.**
