Three Sharp Moves Pertamina Patra Niaga Sulawesi Makes to Ensure Sufficient Fuel and LPG During Christmas and New Year

Bitung, December 23, 2022 - Facing the Christmas & New Year moments that are close, Pertamina Patra Niaga Sulawesi Region ensures that fuel and LPG stocks are sufficient. Hence people can carry out Christmas services, celebrate the new year and go on vacation safely and comfortably. It was revealed during Pertamina's Readiness Press Conference ahead of Christmas and the 2023 New Year in Bitung, North Sulawesi, Monday (19/12) afternoon.

EGM of Pertamina Patra Niaga Sulawesi Region, Erwin Dwiyanto, appealed to the public not to over-purchase because it is ensured that fuel is always available at all distribution agencies during the standby period for one energy distribution.

Erwin revealed that he has three moves to maintain the energy supply during Christmas and New Year's moments. The first is by projecting consumption and stock availability.

"We carried out a series of projections & calculations and predicted an increase in consumption at the Christmas and New Year moments for transportation sector. Gasoline fuel by 5%, Gasoil by 3%, 3 kg LPG by 4%, Non-Subsidized LPG by 2%, and Avtur consumption by 2.8% compared to normal consumption conditions this year (average until October 2022)," said Erwin.

On this basis, Pertamina has made a build-up stock of 10% for fuel, extra dropping up to 11% for LPG and 4% for Avtur.

Second, Pertamina is making various extra efforts, including forming a Pertamina Siaga task force starting December 15-January 8. It will monitor to ensure the distribution readiness of all fuel and LPG distribution agencies as well as other special emergencies that could disrupt distribution smooth running. "We have also coordinated with local government stakeholders, the police, and other related parties to support this," he said.

In supporting the smooth running of our journey, we added service in the form of 22 Motorist Pertamina Delivery Service who are on standby in traffic-prone locations and ready to deliver energy through Call Center 135 to locations where consumers are. "Especially during the Pertamina Standby period, we provided 13 Mobile Storage Petrol Stations throughout Sulawesi, which functioned to bring the fuel supply closer to normal conditions, which would be on standby at points prone to traffic jams, disasters, and concentration cities for Christmas celebrations in Toraja and North Sulawesi, as well as several main tourist route points in Sulawesi, including in Manado, Tomohon, Toraja, Malino, and Tg Bira," said Erwin.

Third, because this celebration moment is carried out during the period of being alert to weather disturbances and natural disasters that can disrupt distribution, Pertamina is preparing alternative patterns and emergency supplies from all over the fuel and LPG supply points to anticipate natural disasters. "We have simulated supply lines that have existed for years and mapped disaster-prone points and have several alternative supply mitigations," he added.

Finally, Erwin appealed to the public so that they do not encounter any problems with the vehicle's engine during the trip, they can purchase quality fuel such as the Pertamax Series and Dex Series. "Our data for consumption during the last Christmas and New Year's moments, a very sharp increase occurred in the Pertamax Series product, which increased 110%, and the Dex Series increased 51% compared to the average daily at that time. It proves that Sulawesi people are aware of the quality fuel utilization for long trips. They do not want their trips to be disrupted, and we hope that it can be implemented continuously using fuel according to the vehicle manual for daily consumption so that the engine is maintained," conveyed Erwin.

General Secretary of DPD Hiswana Migas Sulawesi, Jemmy Mogi, who was present at the occasion, answered media questions about the diesel queue at petrol stations. He said this was unavoidable since the disparity in prices for subsidized and non-subsidized diesel was large. "At the end of the year, everyone is chasing targets, both industry and government projects. Therefore, a surge in diesel consumption is inevitable. We urge all of our members to provide extra services and work together with the police to break down queues to not disturb road users," said Jemmy.

During the Christmas and New Year moments, Pertamina provides a variety of attractive promos and prizes for Pertamax & Dex Series transactions through the MyPertamina application, which can be downloaded on smartphones.**
