A New Chapter: JTB Records Full Capacity Production of 192 Million Cubic Feet per Day

Bojonegoro, May 29, 2024 – PT Pertamina EP Cepu (PEPC) Zone 12, East Indonesia Region, a subsidiary of Pertamina Upstream Sub-holding, as the operator of the Jambaran-Tiung Biru (JTB) Gas Field, has once again marked a significant milestone by achieving a stable full capacity production of 192 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) over a long period.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that Pertamina strives to increase oil and gas production to fulfill its role in maintaining national energy security.

"Pertamina continues to push for production targets achievement in the upstream sector, including gas. We appreciate PEPC achievements, especially Zone 12, which has successfully reached full capacity production," said Fadjar.

General Manager of PEPC Zone 12, Mefredi, mentioned that this achievement is the result of the employees’ hard work of operating the Gas Processing Facility (GPF) or JTB Field plant continuously 24/7 to meet the full capacity gas production target of 192 MMSCFD to fulfill the gas needs of East Java and Central Java. The full-capacity gas production, achieved on Wednesday (22/5), exceeded the contractual requirements of the JTB Project to conduct a performance test of the Gas Processing Facility (GPF) for 72 hours.

“We are proud that in alignment with the National Awakening spirit, JTB presents full capacity production of 192 million MMSCFD. This is the best effort by the nation’s people towards a Golden Indonesia. JTB’s product, which is 100% gas, also contributes to the global agenda for energy transition towards clean energy,” said Mefredi.

The strategic role of PEPC is to ensure smooth gas delivery from the JTB Field according to the buyer’s nomination through the Gresik-Semarang transmission pipeline to fulfill East Java and Central Java’s energy needs. Currently, JTB gas is distributed and absorbed by PGN, PLN, PKG, industry, and household gas networks.

As it is known, the JTB Field has been operational and flowing gas since September 20, 2022. At the start of production, gas flowed at 70 MMSCFD, gradually increasing and on several occasions producing 192 MMSCFD, but for short durations due to the limited gas demand in East Java and Central Java. This significant achievement is accompanied by improved performance, maintaining safe operations with reliable production facilities, and always considering the environment and surrounding communities.

Mefredi emphasized that PEPC is committed to maintaining production achievements at the JTB Field by ensuring the reliability and integrity of production facilities or the Gas Processing Facility (GPF) during the operational phase to operate at 100 percent. “Additionally, it is important to always implement HSSE aspects in company operations and make efforts to optimize the absorption of JTB gas according to the buyer’s commitments or PJBG,” he explained.

PEPC JTB’s commitment to supporting HSSE aspects is demonstrated by achieving over 65.9 million safe working hours.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
