Jakarta, July 23, 2020 – After the success of the testing of Green Diesel D100 production at the Dumai Refinery as many as 1000 barrels per day, Pertamina is now preparing the Cilacap Refinery to be able to test the green avtur production at the end of 2020.
President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, explained that at the end of 2020 Pertamina would trial the first Green Avtur production through Co-Processing the 3% palm oil or CPO injection. It has been processed further so that it loses its sap, impurities, and smells (Refined, Bleached, and Deodorized Palm Oil/RBDPO) at the existing Cilacap Refinery facility.
"The testing of green avtur is part of Pertamina's biorefinery development roadmap to realize the use of green energy in Indonesia. Besides the Dumai Refinery, which has successfully processed 100% palm oil into Green Diesel D100, Pertamina will also build 2 (two) other Standalone Biorefinery in Cilacap and Plaju," said Nicke during her visit to the Cilacap Standalone Biorefinery development project, Tuesday (21/7).
The Cilacap Standalone Biorefinery will later be able to produce green energy with a capacity of 6.000 barrels per day. Meanwhile, the Plaju Standalone Biorefinery in Plaju will be able to produce 20.000 barrels per day. Both Standalone Biorefineries will be able to produce Green Diesel and Green Avtur from 100% vegetable oil.
"Pertamina continues to go along with the trend of world energy supply by seeking the presence of green energy. In addition to Green Diesel and Green Avtur, which will be tested, Pertamina has also conducted Green Gasoline trials. Many world companies have been able to process palm oil into green diesel and green avtur. However, Pertamina is the first in the world to produce Green Gasoline," she added.
Green gasoline has been successfully tested at the Plaju and Cilacap refineries since 2019 through 2020, where Pertamina can process palm oil raw materials up to 20% injection.
According to Nicke, Pertamina's efforts are realized following the president's direction to optimize domestic resources to build national energy security and independence.
Nicke also added that green energy would utilize the abundant domestic palm oil as the main raw material so that Green Energy products have very high TKDN. This step is positive because it will reduce the country's transaction deficit and encourage national economic growth.
Earlier last week, Pertamina delivered a successful trial of Green Diesel D-100 production, reaching 1,000 barrels per day at the existing Dumai Refinery facility. D100 is processed from 100% RBDPO with the help of catalysts made by Pertamina's Research & Technology Center and ITB. The perfomance test through 200 KM used the D100, which is the fuel that is mixed with Solar and FAME. D100 has been proven to produce higher quality diesel fuel with a higher cetane number, more environmentally friendly with lower exhaust emissions, as well as more efficient use of fuel.
"Thank you to the Government and all related parties for their full support to Pertamina. From this trial, it shows that from the technical side of Pertamina's production is ready. Now, we need to think about so that the economic side can also be achieved," concluded Nicke.**
