Balikpapan, May 16, 2022 - After the flash occurred at Plant 5, one of the units in the Balikpapan Refinery area, Pertamina ensures that fuel production continues. Therefore, it does not interfere with the fuel supply to the community.
Currently, the fuel stock from the Balikpapan Refinery is still sufficient to fulfill the Balikpapan fuel Terminal supply needs. Furthermore, PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (PT KPI), in synergy with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PT PPN), ensures that the fuel production and supply to the community can continue to run normally without any problems. Pertamina has even prepared a supply transfer scenario in coordination with the Pertamina Group to anticipate and ensure that the community's fuel needs are fulfilled.
Pertamina Balikpapan's internal team is now working on refinery operational recovery to guarantee that Plant 5 can resume maximum operation as soon as possible. ’In addition, production arrangements are made in other units in the refinery so that they can produce optimally.
Ely Chandra, Area Manager Comm, Relations & CSR of the Balikpapan Refinery, said that plant 5 produces one of the components in fuel production. "Currently, we will optimize the stock contained in the tank. However, we are also preparing plans for additional product raw materials to replace the need for HOMC components from Plant 5, needed to produce fuel," explained Ely. PT KPI will use the PT PPN component taken from the Tanjung Uban fuel Terminal. HOMC (High Octane Mogas Component) is a component needed to produce high octane fuel such as Pertamax
“The Plant 5 repairment is scheduled to be completed in the next seven days, and we ensure that fuel production can continue to run safely. We ask for your prayers and support so that the improvement stages can be carried out maximally," stated Ely.**
