Indramayu, November 21, 2024 – Pertamina, through its Gas Subholding and subsidiary PT Pertamina Gas, continues its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental Responsibility through the Perkasa Bumiku program. Located in Junti Village, Juntinyuat Subdistrict, Indramayu Regency, within the operational area of Pertamina Gas Operation West Java Area, the initiative was held on Thursday (November 14), focusing on educating the community about sustainable energy as part of Pertamina's Independent Energy Village Program (DEB).
This program includes two renewable energy installations in the form of Solar Power Plants (PLTS) with a combined capacity of 7.7 kWp and battery storage of 10 kWh. These are used to power irrigation pumps for 30 hectares of farmland. Previously, farmers could only harvest rice once a year due to limited irrigation. Now, they can harvest twice a year and grow secondary crops as additional income.
To further support water pumps that enhance water flow in other areas, Pertamina Gas OWJA has also implemented social innovation through the use of Painem (Vespa Nanem), a portable LPG-powered pump system that enables farmers to transport water efficiently to distant fields, ensuring optimal irrigation.
On this occasion, the Subdistrict Head, Juntinyuat, expressed his appreciation for the program. “We are collaborating with Pertamina Gas to achieve food self-sufficiency for the community and increase farmers’ yields. We hope this program will continue and expand its positive impact,” Rusyad Nurdin said.
Similar to Rusyad Nurdin, the Director of Technical and Operations of PT Pertamina Gas, Indra P. Sembiring, stated, “It is an excellent collaboration between Pertamina Gas and the community to mitigate climate change and preserve the environment by utilizing renewable energy in agriculture. Ultimately, this program will have a wide-reaching impact on the welfare of the local community.”
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, appreciates parties supporting the program. “This initiative is expected to promote household food self-sufficiency and drive the village economy. It aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), and Goal 13 (Climate Action),” he said.
Pertamina continues to expand clean energy use in rural areas through the Independent Energy Village Program. To date, 125 Independent Energy Villages have been established across Indonesia with the support of local communities and regional governments.
Fadjar added that in implementing the program, Pertamina not only installs clean energy infrastructure to build energy self-sufficiency with the community at its core but also educates residents on managing clean energy for optimal economic benefits.
In addition to supporting energy self-sufficiency, the program also plays a vital role in reducing emissions, aligning with the government’s Net Zero Emission (NZE) target for 2060. Each year, Pertamina’s Independent Energy Village Program reduces carbon emissions by 729,493 tons of CO2eq, contributing to the SDGs achievement and adhering to Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) principles across Pertamina’s business and operations.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina’s business lines and operations.**
