Appreciated by Luhut, Pertamina's collaboration with BPPT, Sucofindo & Surveyor Indonesia Strengthens TKDN Absorption

Jakarta, December 1, 2020 - Pertamina is committed to continuously increase the use of domestic products and services as a concrete step to boost the national economy.

One form of effort is to collaborate with the Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (BPPT), PT Superintending Company of Indonesia (Persero), and PT Surveyor Indonesia (Persero) through a joint commitment signed in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, witnessed by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment as well as the Head of the P3DN Team (Increasing Use of Domestic Products), Luhut B. Panjaitan, and Deputy Minister I of BUMN, Budi Gunadi Sadikin.

This commitment is contained in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, with the Head of Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (BPPT), Hammam Riza, President Director of PT Superintending Company of Indonesia (Persero), Bachder Djohan Buddin, and the President Director of PT Surveyor Indonesia (Persero), Dian M. Noer.

The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut B. Panjaitan, emphasized that local content can help the national economy, especially amid a pandemic like now. He also appreciated Pertamina's steps in consistently increasing local components in the company's business processes.

"Congratulations to the President Director of Pertamina, who has been consistent in implementing TKDN in her projects, and will increase in the future. In this way, we can help the Indonesian people get out of the current crisis," he said in his remarks.

President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, explained Pertamina plays a significant role in encouraging national economic growth by ensuring the implementation of TKDN in every project and business process in the Pertamina Group.

Through this collaboration, Sucofindo and Surveyor Indonesia will provide assistance, planning, and verification of TKDN achievements in infrastructure projects and Pertamina Group business development.

"Following government directives, Pertamina is committed to ensuring the implementation of TKDN throughout its business processes, including by establishing a special function to monitor the absorption of TKDN in Pertamina. It applies to all lines of business from upstream to downstream. It is starting from planning to implementation and evaluation. It is Pertamina's commitment to advancing the domestic industry. Hopefully, it can create jobs for more Indonesians and boost the national economy," said Nicke.

In addition to ensuring TKDN achievement through this assistance, Pertamina collaborates with the Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (BPPT) to study and apply its technology and engineering (research, development, and design). Pertamina currently needs technology research in several projects, including biorefinery technology. It is to transform refinery technology based on fossil raw materials into renewable energy, energy storage technology, refinery residue, and dimethyl ether (DME) technology for LPG fuel substitution.

"With the support of the assessment and application of technology, Pertamina can more easily realize the company's transformation into a process and energy industry," she added.

On the same occasion, the Head of BPPT, Hammam Riza, said that his party is ready to work with Pertamina to ensure local content in Pertamina projects.

"Through this cooperation, BPPT together with Pertamina can foster local industries to upgrade from normal assemblers to industries with brand names, with their copyright capabilities and downstream products to promote national economic growth," he said.

President Director of PT Superintending Company of Indonesia (Persero), Bachder Djohan Buddin, stated that this collaboration was a form of Sucofindo's commitment to increasing local products' competitiveness.

"Thank you for the trust given by the Ministry of Industry and Pertamina to Sucofindo to carry out TKDN verification activities for Pertamina's partners. This collaboration demonstrates our commitment to increasing competitiveness and encouraging domestic products for national industrial growth. PT Sucofindo, one of the SOEs appointed by the Government to carry out TKDN verification work, will provide the best service. Hopefully, the commitment from Pertamina's partners to maximize the use of domestic products following applicable Government regulations," he said.

Meanwhile, on the same occasion, Director of Surveyor Indonesia, Dian M. Noer, said that his party would continue to encourage the national economy.

"Surveyor Indonesia and Pertamina are committed to implementing TKDN following regulations, as a collaborative effort to encourage national economic growth. We hope that this collaboration can underline the importance of using national resources through TKDN to increase domestic investment. This MoU is a manifestation of our joint commitment as State-Owned Enterprises to continue to drive the national economy and industry," said Dian. **
