Lombok, September 29, 2024 – President Joko Widodo attended and opened the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2024 at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, Central Lombok, on Sunday, September 29, 2024. President Jokowi appreciates the progress and success of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia over the past three years.
According to a press release from the Presidential Secretariat Press, Media, and Information Bureau, President Jokowi assessed this year's event as excellent. He also appreciated the involvement of local workers in this international automotive event.
"I have seen great progress over the past three years, especially in management, which has improved, and the facilities have also improved. Thirdly, for the crew, I am pleased that all 3,000 crew members here are from NTB. That makes me happy," declared the President.
The 2024 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia was intense, as four riders immediately crashed during the first lap at the challenging Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit. A total of nine riders did not finish the race.
The Pertamina-supported team, Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, showed their effort. VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that although the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team's rider did not reach the podium this time, they still delivered a proud performance.
"Although the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team did not make it to the podium in today’s home race, the result is still excellent. Marco Bezzecchi secured fifth place. We hope for an even better performance in the next race," Fadjar said.
The events at the 2024 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia concluded with President Jokowi presenting the trophies to the MotoGP winners. The success of this international automotive event, held from September 27 to 29, 2024, was because of the support of many parties, including the central government, business entities, local governments, stakeholders, and all elements of society who were actively involved.
