Becoming an Upgrade MSE, Pertamina's Fostered Partner Showcase their Fashion Products from Mall to Mall

Jakarta, April 6, 2021 - PT Pertamina (Persero) fully supports small entrepreneurs' growth in Indonesia to become an upgrade MSEs. Through the Partnership Program, fostered MSEs will be assisted to become strong and independent entrepreneurs. Therefore, it can inspire others to become entrepreneurs who can provide jobs.

This step has been implemented by the married couple Djumantan S. and Intan. Pertamina's fostered partner, the Intan Fashion business owner, has been in the entrepreneurial field for a long time. One of the efforts to introduce their fashion products is to market them in shopping centres. "Since 2007, we have started to open outlets in malls and move between malls in Balikpapan," he said.

Currently, Intan Fashion already has outlets in the Balikpapan Trade Center (BTC). With Pertamina's assistance, the fashion store window that he owns looks even busier and more complete. Starting from a collection of everyday clothes, formal clothes, to a variety of batik clothes with Balikpapan's unique motives can also be found at its outlets.

This method was also considered successful in being able to introduce the product to the public quickly. Therefore, the business can continue to grow both in terms of turnover and production capacity. Especially after deciding to become Pertamina's partner in 2020, Intan acknowledged many positive developments in her business.

"Alhamdulillah, assistance from Pertamina is beneficial to increase business capital and increase turnover. Before becoming a partner, my monthly turnover was around IDR 25 million. Currently, the increase is up to IDR35 million per month," explained Intan, who is also one of the Balikpapan Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association (IWAPI).

In addition to turnover, business development is also seen in the increasing number of production. Initially, the fashion production capacity was only around 100 to 150 pieces per month. Under Pertamina's guidance, its production capacity has increased by five times to 500 articles per month.

Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Agus Suprijanto, added that Pertamina would fully support the business as undertaken by Intan. According to him, Intan's motivation and enthusiasm should be imitated by people who want to start a business. "After having your own business, you can become Pertamina's fostered partner to become an upgraded MSEs," he said.

According to Agus, through this Partnership Program, Pertamina wants to be able to consistently provide energy that drives the economy-energy that becomes fuel and the energy that generates sustainable growth. It is also implementing the 8th goal of SDGs to provide decent work and support economic growth.

Apart from SDGs, Pertamina also tries to implement ESG in the social sector. ESG or Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Management is the company's step in running its business that focuses on long-term business sustainability. In this way, Pertamina believes that it can consistently generate economic benefits in the community following environmental and social responsibilities.**
