Jakarta, March 8, 2024 - To create a healthy work ecosystem, particularly in terms of mental health in the workplace, Pertamina Retail has successfully etched its name in the Indonesian Museum of World Records (MURI) in the category of "Most Employee Mental Health Screenings in One Company." The record-breaking initiative took place from February 19-23, 2023, involving 5,143 officers at the Head Office and all PT Pertamina Retail Business Unit. The 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) by the Ministry of Health shows that more than 19 million people aged over 15 experience emotional mental disorders, and more than 12 million people aged over 15 experience depression. Meanwhile, the Sample Registration System conducted by the National Institute of Health Research and Development in 2016 obtained data on suicides amounting to 1,800 per year.
In a separate location, the President Director of Pertamina Retail, Iin Febrian, stated that the main focus of the Board of Directors and Management is to ensure the quality of employee health, both physically and mentally. This initiative encompasses prevention and promotional aspects to increase awareness of the importance of health for all company members.
"Mental health is an essential aspect of officer well-being. We are really proud and grateful for the team's success in etching its name in the MURI Record. It demonstrates our commitment to creating a healthy, safe, and supportive working environment for all officers," Iin said.
VP of Marketing & Operation of Pertamina Retail, Donny Brilianto, added that the mental health screening process uses the Self Reporting Questioner 29 (SRQ-29) instrument recommended by the World Health Organization, aiming to detect potential mental disorders.
"We have involved professional teams and mental health experts to implement this program. The data generated will not only be recorded by MURI for record-keeping but will also be analyzed to determine the necessary follow-up steps to support employees' need for mental health assistance," Donny added.
Meanwhile, the HSSE Manager and HR & GA Manager of Pertamina Retail, Ruli Handoko, and Kaswir, stated that this activity is not aimed at a new record but serves as a tangible platform for employees' need for mental health support. This initiative is concrete evidence that PT. Pertamina Retail is committed to maintaining well-being and continually walking with its officers in creating a healthy and productive work ecosystem.
