CEO of Pertamina NRE Wins Indonesian Executive of The Year at the Asian Management Excellence Awards

Bangkok, January 26, 2024 – The CEO of Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), Dannif Danusaputro, has been awarded the Indonesian Executive of the Year - Renewable Energy at the Asian Management Excellence Awards ceremony on Tuesday (23/1).

Pertamina NRE received international recognition at the Asian Management Excellence Awards for the leadership of Dannif Danusaputro as the CEO of Pertamina NRE. Dannif has been deemed successful in developing green businesses and has demonstrated outstanding performance in leading Pertamina NRE. One of Pertamina NRE's successes is in carbon business development, which has achieved remarkable milestones, including carbon trading initiatives. Thanks to these achievements, Pertamina NRE's Carbon Team also received an award in the same event, namely the Team Of The Year - Renewable Energy.

Dannif has been deemed deserving of the Indonesia Executive of the Year - Renewable Energy award by the jury panel comprising representatives from the "Big Four Consultant" firms, including KPMG, PWC, and EY. Dannif has shown exceptional performance in leading Pertamina NRE, increasing the installed capacity of solar power plants by 236% in 2023.

Moreover, other green business developments have shown progressive growth under his leadership. Under his guidance, Pertamina NRE began various green business initiatives in 2022 and established collaborations with domestic and international strategic partners.

In clean hydrogen development, Pertamina NRE collaborated with at least six strategic partners: SEMBCORP, IGNIS, TEPCO, Keppel, Chevron, and Krakatau Steel. For nature-based solutions initiatives, Pertamina NRE collaborated with Perum Perhutani. Meanwhile, Pertamina NRE signed cooperation agreements with Pertamina Hulu Energi and Pertamina Kilang Internasional for carbon trading initiatives.

Dannif actively promotes the ESG aspects implementation at Pertamina NRE as a commitment to reducing carbon emissions and supporting the Indonesian government in achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.

"Dannif is a determined leader. What he has done has surpassed his official duties," explained Jason Seng, one of the EY (Ernst & Young) jury members. “He described the qualities and values that define an Executive of the Year, making him a worthy candidate for this prestigious award," Seng added.

Meanwhile, Pertamina NRE's carbon business team, consisting of seven dedicated personnel, has successfully executed sustainable green business missions. They have achieved remarkable accomplishments and set new "innovation" standards in the carbon business by successfully launching the Indonesia Carbon Exchange. Thus, they deserve to win in the Indonesia Team of the Year - Renewable Energy category.

Through the efforts of this team, Pertamina NRE has solidified its position as a pioneer in the carbon business by becoming the first carbon credit seller on IDXCarbon. Their success in trading 460,000 carbon credits on the launch day of IDXCarbon demonstrates their ability to manage the complexities of the carbon market. Twenty-eight companies from various sectors, including industry and banking, have invested in this carbon business.

"What we achieve today demonstrates Pertamina NRE's commitment to sustainability. Through dedication, learning, and collective efforts, we could exceed expectations. However, this is not the end of our efforts. We still have a long way to go, challenges to face, and higher targets to achieve. It takes a solid, capable, and supportive team. And I am grateful to have such an amazing team," Dannif said.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
