Jakarta, September 23, 2021 – Pertamina has proven its commitment to align operations and social and environmental responsibilities with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
It is proven by four Indonesian SDGs Award 2021 for PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (PT KPI). This prestigious CSR award is organized by the Corporate Forum for CSR Development (CFCD) in collaboration with the Ministry of National Development Planning of the Republic of Indonesia as the lead sector of the SDGs in Indonesia, as well as related ministries and other SDGs activist institutions.
The four awards include 1 Platinum Category, 2 Gold Categories, and 1 Silver Category from several leading CSR programs within PT KPI. Among them is the Program Gambut Berdikari (Independent Peat Program). This program encourages communities to prevent and overcome peatland fires in Kampung Jawa, Sungai Pakning, Bengkalis and is integrated with peatland pineapple plantation management. The PT KPI Dumai Unit’s featured program in the Sei Pakning area won the Platinum category award for its contribution to SDGs 13.2, namely Integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies, and planning.
Meanwhile, the Gold Category was won by PT KPI Dumai Unit for its contribution to SDGs 5.1, namely, end all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere, through the Kalam Bersinar (Kampung Laksamana Free from Drugs) program. PT KPI Balikpapan Unit also achieved the same category for its contribution to implement SDGs 3.3, namely, by 2030, end the epidemics of communicable diseases through the RU V Coviducation Health program.
PT KPI Balikpapan Unit also won the Silver category for its contribution to implement SDGs 11.4, namely, strengthen efforts to protect and safeguard the world’s cultural and natural heritage through the Dahor Heritage Cultivation Reserve program.
PT KPI’s Corporate Secretary, Ifki Sukarya, said that the program is part of corporate participation in supporting sustainable development as the theme of this year’s ISDA. “The award is only part of the implementation of the community empowerment program that has been implemented by PT KPI, where more than 60 corporate social responsibility programs implemented in all PT KPI operating units refer to the SDGs as a form of corporate social investment and have strategic value in encouraging development progress, Ifki said.
This year is the 4th ISDA Award with the theme “The Role of Corporations and Stakeholders in Sustainable Development for the Welfare of the Nation”. It is attended by more than 200 programs from environmental, social, and economic pillars. Moreover, Pertamina Group won a total of 20 awards.
According to the head of the assessment team, Prof. Hardinsyah, the programs were much better this year than ISDA in previous years. “There are 3 categories that in ISDA 2021 which include the corporate SDGs category contains 17 goals and 34 programs, the CSR/CID program category contains 16 goals and 30 programs, and individual categories with 4 levels include the director level, general manager level, manager, and partner/local hero level,” said Prof. Hardinsyah.
Chairman of CFCD, Thendri Supriatno, added that the awarding of the 2021 ISDA can encourage a corporation to make serious efforts to play a role in improving the quality of people’s lives and managing the environment sustainably.
