Jakarta, September 27, 2023 - PT Pertamina (Persero) actively participated in the Community Tree Planting initiative held in the courtyard of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE), in Medan Merdeka Selatan Street, Gambir, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
The symbolic tree planting event at the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises was led by the Minister of SOE, Erick Thohir, alongside SOE directors, SOE employees, and SOE employee representatives. From Pertamina, attendees included Director of Business Support, Erry Widiastono; Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility & Small Medium Enterprises Partnership Program (CSR & SMEPP), Fajriyah Usman; Vice President of New Ventures AAA, Indira Pratyaksa; and Pertamina officers.
In his speech, Minister Erick Thohir stated that this tree-planting activity is one of the ways SOEs contribute to environmental issues, especially pollution, through its CSR program. He emphasized the need for collaboration among all parties, particularly SOEs, to address the issue of pollution promptly.
"That is why I encourage SOEs located in Jakarta to help the city today. One way we can do this is by planting trees," he explained.
Erick continued by mentioning that SOEs, with the Jakarta Provincial Government, have committed to greenifying the Monas area. He also appreciate all SOE entities for making this program possible. "I am thankful. This CSR and moral movement is successful because our CSR focuses on three aspects: education, reforestation, and support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSME)," Erick conveyed.
Director of Business Support of Pertamina, Erry Widiastono, added that Pertamina's participation in tree planting activities reflects its commitment to environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation. "Not only in Jakarta, but the Pertamina Group is actively promoting tree planting and other environmental activities in various regions involving communities. Thus, this initiative becomes a collective effort in recognizing its importance," said Erry.
Meanwhile, Diah Puspa Khairani, one of Pertamina's young officers, expressed her appreciation for the 100,000-tree planting initiative. "The hope is that tangible tree planting actions can continue, increasing environmental awareness both within the SOE sector and among young people in general," Diah said.
At least 100,000 trees were distributed during this Community Tree Planting event, with 70,000 trees allocated to SOE employees and 30,000 to be distributed to the public during the Car Free Day (CFD) event on October 1, 2023. Tree planting is part of Pertamina's Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) program to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 13 (Climate Action) and number 15 (Land Ecosystems Sustainability) achievement.
Pertamina also introduced the "Greenomina" application as an innovation, providing information on the potential CO2 absorption from the 100,000 trees planted. Through the Greenomina app, tree adopters can monitor tree progress periodically and receive participation certificates. The planting of 100,000 trees through the Community Tree Planting initiative is expected to absorb 643 CO2e annually.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
