Jakarta, September 28, 2024 – The President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Nicke Widyawati, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award in the industrial category at the 2024 Industrial Engineering Awards (IEA 2024), at Soehanna Hall, The Energy Building, SCBD, South Jakarta, on Friday, September 27, 2024.
The award was given as a recognition of her dedication and significant contributions to the country’s development, particularly in the industrial sector. The award was personally handed over by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, to Nicke Widyawati.
The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, congratulated the award winners and praised Nicke Widyawati for her contributions to Pertamina and Indonesia, especially as Pertamina made it to the Fortune Global 500 list.
He also called on domestic academics and engineers to collaborate in realizing Golden Indonesia by 2045. "I urge engineers not to retire, as there is still much work to be done. We need to strengthen our domestic capacity because, with that, we can become a developed country," Airlangga explained.
Nicke Widyawati expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the Industrial Engineering Department of the Indonesian Engineers Association (BKTI - PII) for the award. This recognition further motivates her to continue contributing positively to Indonesia.
Nicke stated that during her 33 years as an engineer, her goal and dream have always been the same: to ensure that the domestic industry becomes a key player in its own country and contributes to job creation.
"Whatever responsibility I hold, at the core, I am an Industrial Engineering Engineer. That will never change, and as Mr. Airlangga mentioned, there is no such thing as retirement," she said.
Nicke also expressed her appreciation for the era of President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) administration, as well as for Airlangga Hartarto, both in his role as Minister of Industry and now as Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, for advancing the domestic industry through the Domestic Content Level (TKDN) policy.
Furthermore, she encouraged all engineers across the country to collectively contribute their best to advance Indonesia. "As engineers, we will never retire, no matter where or in what capacity. As an Industrial Engineering Engineer, this dream must come true, and we can achieve it together through collaboration," Nicke concluded.
