Jakarta, March 16, 2022 – Tanjung Sekong LPG Terminal has successfully carried out an innovation that is proven to reduce electricity consumption. It also demonstrates the company's commitment to supporting energy efficiency programs that benefit the environment.
Tanjung Sekong LPG Terminal is managed by PT Peteka Karya Tirta (PKT) which is a subsidiary of PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS). This terminal plays a role in distributing LPG gas to customers in the West Java Region (covering the provinces of West Java, DKI Jakarta, and Banten).
Fully operating 24 hours a day, the electricity usage at the Tanjung Sekong LPG terminal is quite large, reaching an average of 57,362 kWh/month.
One of the largest electricity consumptions in the LPG terminal complex is in the operational area of the refrigerated LPG plant. This area has operational facilities such as Bog, Sea water pump, and electrical transfer pump, which require high electricity demand.
The Tanjung Sekong LPG Terminal team then implemented an innovation that became a pioneer in changing operational mechanisms, which previously used two pumps and produced more power, now can become one pump.
"This method of reducing electricity utilization at the Bog Condensate pump is carried out by modifying the pipeline," said President Director of PT Peteka Karya Tirta (PKT) Hari Purnomo.
Modifications were made on the BOG pipeline leading to the LPG mix storage tank so that the process of moving LPG liquid is closer and can be done with one pipe unit.
Energy efficiency with the use of one pipe unit saves 108,000 kWh/year or IDR 85,518,180, according to the calculation of the applicable electricity tariff.**
