Pekanbaru, May 12, 2022 – President Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero), Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, visited PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) to monitor the Rokan Work Area (WK) management progress after the management transfer, especially in digitalization. In addition to having a strategic role in fulfilling national energy needs, WK Rokan, located in Riau, is a locomotive for the digitalization implementation development in other Pertamina Upstream Subholding work areas.
"From the Board of Commissioners of PT Pertamina (Persero), we appreciate the digitalization development in WK Rokan. The directions we conveyed during our previous visit in December last year were successfully realized, even exceeding the target," said Basuki while giving directions at the PHR WK Rokan's Main Office in Rumbai, Pekanbaru, on Monday (9/5). Basuki hopes that the digitalization program can generate new ideas to drive cost optimization through business decisions based on data power.
The Board of Commissioners (Dekom) of PT Pertamina (Persero) was welcomed directly by the President Director of PHR, Jaffee A. Suardin, with the WK Rokan management. During this working visit, the Dekom group visited the war room in Rumbai and the drilling rig location in Minas and held discussions with workers, including millennial workers.
The President Director of PHR explained that the digitalization program supports WK Rokan's massive and aggressive work plan. With a war room facility's presence, the PHR WK Rokan management can monitor operations' performance in the field second by second. Therefore, important decisions can be taken immediately when there are obstacles in the field. This war room facility was established after the management transfer from the previous operator.
In addition to the war room facilities, WK Rokan has developed artificial intelligence to improve work safety in the field and designed applications for managing integrated well development and drilling activities. Pertamina's Upstream Subholding also gave a mandate to the Rokan WK to continue to assist the digitalization development in other WKs. After the IODSC (Integrated Optimization & Decision Support Center) replication's success with the “Software as a Service” (SaaS) concept approach in Jambi Merang and Prabumulih at the end of last year, this year, eight other CAs will be developed in Pertamina's Upstream Subholding environment.
The digitalization expansion is Pertamina's efforts to optimize business processes with appropriate digital technology (fit-for-purpose), strengthen business innovation, and build collaboration to realize efficient operations.
The digitization expansion is carried out using a SaaS concept approach where the Rokan WK's IODSC acts as a hub or activity center in receiving and processing equipment performance data and production well data sent by other CAs. This SaaS method is considered the most efficient and effective in cost and time by optimizing existing facilities and digitizing success.
“Value creation from the digitalization program is expected to reduce oil/LPO production loss potential and increase the reliability of production facilities as optimally as possible. Efficient operations will make an optimal contribution in achieving the target," explained Jaffee.
The collaboration between Pertamina's Upstream Subholding Working Areas is expected to strengthen the standardization and optimization of the digital technology application to support the vision of becoming a world-class oil and gas company achievement.**
