Jakarta, 13 September 2020 - Pertamina SMEXPO 2020 has succeeded in opening market access for Indonesian MSMEs. Pertamina's Development Partners, who participated in this event, recorded potential transactions of up to IDR 9.3 billion, both from retail transactions and business forums.
Of the total transactions, the export potential obtained from business forums is the dominant transaction.
This export potential is obtained in a business forum, which is Pertamina's collaboration with the Indonesia Diaspora SME-SMI Export Empowerment & Development (ID-SEED). It is an organization of Indonesian Diaspora in various countries to assist MSMEs in order to market their products in the global market.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, stated that the total value of the transaction showed extraordinary interest in the MSMEs products of Pertamina's fostered partners. Even though they have to undergo several procedures for export, the Pertamina SMEXPO 2020 event has succeeded in opening access to Indonesian MSMEs products.
"We are very proud because there are many potential buyers from abroad who are interested in MSMEs products of Pertamina's fostered partners. This means that the quality of Indonesian MSMEs products can compete in the international arena," said Fajriyah Usman.
Ira Damayanti, the Chairperson ID SEED, who became a mediator in a one on one business matching at the business forum between Pertamina Fostered Partners MSMEs and potential buyers, stated that the potential for these transactions came from product demand. It includes herbal, food, fashion, and craft products.
Furthermore, according to Ira, ID SEED will assist fostered Partners. "Assistance can be carried out in the production process or at the packaging, labeling, and manufacturing stages of marketing tools in English. Also, in parallel, international certification is carried out according to buyers' requests, especially for F&B products that are required to have HACCP," said Ira.
The intensive mentoring stage is carried out with predetermined targets. For those who have already exported, Assistance can be provided for new market expansion. Intensive Assistance in the form of quality and capacity improvement training is carried out for a minimum of 3 - 6 months, followed by 1-month packaging training and market adaptation for six months. "Finally, then preparations for correspondence with potential buyers," she added.
Ira hopes that Pertamina's SMEXPO 2020 participants next year (2021) will be able to export fully. It was recorded that the potential transactions at the last Business Forum amounted to IDR 9.29 billion. It is hoped that by 2021, the real transaction can reach 2 or 3 times as much.
The biggest potential export transactions include the potential sales of Hitara Black Garlic with a potential transaction value of around IDR 2 billion for exports to France, England, South Africa, and Australia. Batik sales occupy the second position with a potential transaction value of IDR 1.7 billion. The export destinations for this batik product are Germany, Singapore, Australia, Qatar, and Dominica.
Apart from that, weaving crafts are also in great demand by foreign importers. They have recorded a potential business transaction of IDR 1.15 billion with export destination countries Germany, Australia, and Dominica. Apart from weaving, handicraft products are also in great demand by foreign buyers, who record a potential transaction of IDR 1 billion for exports to America, Australia, France, and New Zealand. There are also embroidery crafts that reach a potential business transaction of IDR 750 million for the export of Saudi Arabia, Australia, and Germany.
Pertamina continues to be committed to supporting Indonesian MSMEs through a partnership program. MSMEs who are interested in joining as Pertamina's fostered partners can follow the procedure, which can be accessed through www.pertamina.com/id/program-kemitraan.**
