Jakarta, May 22, 2021 - Sociopreneur-based businesses are widely applied by micro and small enterprises (MSEs) assisted by Pertamina. In this way, MSEs can help people who need jobs and help their economy. The MSE Funding Program aims to help these MSEs increase their business capacity to absorb more workers.
This method has been implemented by one of Pertamina's fostered partners, Rehana. The owner of CV Sinar Brahma Rasid produces a variety of safety gloves made of leather. The business initiated in 2006 has employed as many as 40 people. "Before becoming Pertamina's partners, we were only able to empower 10 people. Thank God it increased," she said.
Rehana said that the majority of workers are housewives. Many of which are already in their old age. Understandably, Rehana is not picky about giving someone a job. "As long as you commit. Most of their tasks are cutting cloth and leather for gloves," she added.
The business located at JalanSudirman No. 131, Cilongkrang, Karangpawitan, Garut Regency is increasingly developing. It is especially in line with the rapid progress of the industrial sector in several areas in Cikarang Bekasi. The demand for its products is also increasing. What was initially marketed only in Bekasi has now expanded to Bandung and Surabaya.
Rehana does not market its products directly. But through agents who will participate in tenders to several companies. This method is quite promising because the number of orders obtained is more significant, and the benefits are also comparable. "But I also try to market it directly through the Tokopedia marketplace under the name Sinar BRC safety," she explained.
As a result, Rehana's profits were multiplied. Before becoming Pertamina's partners, the turnover was calculated to be around IDR 30 million/month. Currently, it can reach hundreds of millions every month. It is inseparable from the 10-fold increase in production capacity. Initially, 3000 pairs, now it can reach 30 thousand pairs in a month.
Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman added, Pertamina will continue to support businesses like Rehana's. "Sociopreneur-based businesses like this can help many people, especially those who need jobs and additional economies," she said.
According to Fajriyah, through the MSE Funding Program, Pertamina wants to present the energy that drives the economy--energy that becomes fuel and energy that generates sustainable growth.
Pertamina continues to promote SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) point 8 accomplishments by implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) based programs in all of its operational areas. It is part of the environmental and social responsibility to realize economic benefits in the community.**
