Jakarta, August 12, 2020 - Pertamina distributed business capital assistance and training worth IDR 849.4 million to empower social institutions to be more independent and rise from Covid-19. It was distributed to 7 Social Institutions in Jakarta. The aid given is centered at the Bina Netra Social Home, Deaf and Speaks "Cahaya Batin," which is under the guidance of the DKI Jakarta Social Service, in Jl. Dewi Sartika, Cawang, East Jakarta, and Nurul Zahro Orphanage, Koja, North Jakarta on Tuesday (11/8). The handover was made by VP of CSR and SMEPP of Pertamina, Arya Dwi Paramita, and received by the Chairperson of the Cahaya Batin Social Institution and the Chairperson of the Nurul Zahro Orphanage.
Each institution is provided with various business training according to the needs, interests, and business orientation of each institution. It involves sewing training, training on making salted eggs, training in air conditioning repair, training in making dyed batik, organic farming training, and photography training.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, said the training provided would be followed by business practices and assistance with supporting equipment and assistance, with a total value of IDR 849.4 million with a total of 450 participants.
"We see the potential that can be developed from the orphanage students. We provide them with a capital in the form of the development of skills, which follows their interests and talents. Therefore, it is hoped that this training can create an independent business spirit, especially in economic independence," said Fajriyah.
Pertamina added Fajriyah, prepared instructors who were experienced, which is also business practitioners. Therefore, the material presented is more applicable. At the same time, the orphanage children will also be taught not only production skills, but also marketing techniques both offline and online.
According to Fajriyah, as a state-owned enterprises, Pertamina is committed to supporting SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in the Education Sector and ISO 26000 as well as being a driving force in empowering people to rise after facing the challenges of Covid-19.
"This training is expected to create new business actors who will have an impact on economic growth and employment, and will help improve the welfare of orphanage children," added Fajriyah.
Siti Maemunah, one of the orphanage children who took part in the sewing training, expressed her pleasure in getting assistance, guidance, and assistance from Pertamina.
"I like learning to sew. I sew after school until the end of Asr. I can learn straight sewing and patterns. Hopefully, in the future, I can learn to open a boutique and become an entrepreneur," said this 12th-grade student.
The same thing is shared by Nia Fitriyati (27 years old), who has been a child of the Social Home for the Bina Netra, Deaf and Speech "Cahaya Batin" for 4 years. She has a dream to become a salted egg entrepreneur. Every day she sells salted eggs with the highest turnover of IDR 500 thousand.
"I will not be in the orphanage forever. In the end, I have to leave the orphanage. With this training, my skills will get even better. I will use the capital to make more salted eggs," she said. **
