Empowering Young Generations, These Pertamina's Partners Are More Energetic and Still Productive In Their Old Ages

Jakarta, November 8, 2021 – PT Pertamina (Persero)'s fostered partners' concerns for their surrounding environment should be appreciated. Even in their old age, Pertamina's MSE partners have a great spirit to empower less fortunate young people.

Acting Vice President of Corporate Communications of Pertamina, Heppy Wulansari, said the fostered partners' effort was the implementation of sociopreneur-based businesses. "That is by involving the surrounding community, both young and middle-aged people, to improve the economy and fulfill their daily needs," she said.

One of them is Ch Derici Wasikem. The woman who is familiarly called Rici is now running a woven bamboo bag business. In running her business, she also involves several community groups. It includes housewives, people with disabilities, and school children.

"It is all purely the children's wishes to work part-time. They want to help their families, meet their school needs, and receive some pocket money. Even though I am almost 60 years old, by surrounding myself with the young generation, my soul becomes energetic and young," she said.

The Rimanci Handbags based in Purwodadi District, Rawas Regency, South Sumatra, is now growing and advancing, especially since being fostered by Pertamina in 2017. Turnover, which was previously around IDR 7 million per month, skyrocketed to IDR 20 million every month after being assisted by Pertamina.

Euis Rita Rosnita also applied the same concept. Even though she is more than half a century or 52 years old, her enthusiasm to run her Rita Rose Collection kebaya encim embroidery business increases. It is because she also empowers young people, especially those who have dropped out of school.

"Through this business, I want to provide jobs for children who are less fortunate or drop out of school. Therefore, they have skills and can develop more in the future," said Euis.

She hoped that her business would grow by being Pertamina's fostered partner. Therefore, it can provide more job opportunities for those in need. Her business turnover increases from IDR 20 million per month to around IDR 30 million per month.

According to Heppy, through the PUMK Program, Pertamina wants to provide energy that can move the economy--energy that fuels and energy that produces sustainable growth. Pertamina continues to encourage each partner to become upgraded and Go Global MSEs.

Pertamina also supports SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) achievement by implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-based programs in all its operational areas. It is part of the Environmental and Social Responsibility (TJSL) to realize economic benefits in the community.**
