Jakarta, October 3, 2021 – PT Pertamina (Persero) through partnership program upholds gender equality in each of its coaching programs. Similar efforts were also carried out by several Pertamina’s fostered partners, they empowered women to participate in developing their businesses. Therefore, the business that these fostered partners run can upgrade and develop.
Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman said that the number of women MSEs fostered by Pertamina was quite fantastic. Since the 1993 until 2020, there are more than 22 thousand female entrepreneurs fostered by Pertamina.
“This proves that women’s role is quite large, especially to drive the national economy through small-scale business and SDG’s point 8 in increasing inclusive and sustainable economic growth, productive and comprehensive job opportunities and decent work for all,” she said.
One example is Erna Sari. The owner of Ayam Penyet Bandung (APB) culinary business has been in the business since 2013. Erna started her business from scratch. That what makes her spirit in doing business never falters until now. “Back then, I started my business using tent on the sidewalk by the side of the road,” she said.
Now, Erna has 9 APB branches in which the majority are located in West Jakarta and Tangerang. She did not only make chicken penyet business, Erna also maintains the quality of the food products. This is proven by several business certification owned by her. From IUMK, Halal, to Food Sanitation Hygiene (HSP), and Food Handler Certification from the National Professional Certification Board (BNSP).
Furthermore, talking about gender equality, currently she has around 12 employees. In which 10 of them are women. They consist of housewives or young women who need jobs. “The commitment in the beginning of opening a business was to be able to provide jobs for women,” she said.
Due to the support from many parties, Erna is able to sell her culinary product up to 450 servings/day. Wherein a month, she can make a profit of around IDR 200 million.
