Jakarta, April 22, 2022 - Energy, Sustainability & Climate Task Force (TF ESC) B20 held another online Call Meeting to discuss policies (Policy Action) that will be recommended at the upcoming G20. At the meeting, TF ESC, led by the President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, as the Chair, continued to update the draft policies and policy actions calling for energy sustainability and climate change (19/4).
The meeting entitled "3rd Task Force Call Meeting" was attended by around 140 participants consisting of Deputy Chair of ESC Task Force Agung Wicaksono, Manager of ESC Policy Task Force Oki Muraza, 8 Co-Chairs of ESC B20 Task Force, and B20 members from 19 industries and 25 countries.
Chair of TF ESC B20, Nicke Widyawati, invited members of TF ESC B20 to re-discuss policy designs and more constructive policy actions.
"To date, we have received more than 300 comments and inputs that are very constructive and advantageous in drafting the policy. Through the active participation of all participants, I am confident that this task force will provide relevant and actionable policy recommendations to the G20 leadership," said Nicke.
At this meeting, there were several inputs and recommendations from the B20 Secretariat, which would later be added to several new policy actions to be discussed in more depth to suit the focus and collective needs that represent the B20 Community interests as a whole.
Nicke also said that collectively, she would try to handle and provide the best inputs to the G20 countries.
"Let's work together to create and deliver the legacy of the B20 presidency this year, both through policies and a series of site events about the real action of the task force. Therefore, we can give the best to the G20," Nicke said.
Nicke said that through this meeting, the main objective of the ESC task force was to ensure an inclusive process in developing policy recommendations and actions would be achieved.
ESC B20 Policy Task Force Manager Oki Muraza explained that currently, there are 12 inputs for policy actions from 14 policy actions discussed in the previous call meeting.
"There are 12 policy actions, which the 14 policy actions discussed earlier. This has not been agreed upon and will continue to change until this policy has represented all of us," Oki added.
On the same occasion, Deputy Chair of the ESC Task Force, Agung Wicaksono, explained that the ESC Task Force also wants to achieve its goals. Namely, developing partnerships and collaborations, developing technology to carry out capacity building in various countries, and increasing values that will attract investment and financing access.
"To achieve this goal, we invite the realization of a corporate agreement and pilot project in the country. The target is to have it completed by September or October 2022," said Agung.
As it is known, the ESC Task Force B20 carries three main vectors, namely, accelerating the transition to sustainable energy use, ensuring a just and affordable transition, and increasing global cooperation to ensure energy security.**
