Enhancing Competitiveness, Rumah BUMN Pertamina Holds MSME Upgrade Training

Jakarta, June 16, 2023 – As a sustainable company, PT Pertamina (Persero) has been entrusted with nurturing 30 Rumah BUMN spread across Indonesia, providing support to over 9,000 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) actors. Pertamina's role in these Rumah BUMN aligns with the company's efforts to improve MSMEs’ quality and competitiveness, thereby contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement, specifically Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, explained that the Rumah BUMN is expected to serve as a gathering place, providing education and guidance to MSME actors, enabling them to upgrade their status and become high-quality, resilient MSMEs while enhancing their access to marketing and capital. Various activities are conducted, including training, assistance with licensing and certification, and cutting-edge marketing methodologies implementation.

One of these activities follows the current digital era. Out of all MSMEs in Rumah BUMN Pertamina, 4,630 have already utilized social media as a means for promotion and sales. Additionally, over 3,900 MSMEs have registered on digital sales platforms (marketplaces).

"We hope that our support to these MSMEs can help them upgrade and achieve economic self-reliance," he stated.

As exemplified by the ongoing activities in Rumah BUMN Pertamina in Klungkung, Bali, a series of Business Incubation programs are being conducted involving ten local MSMEs selected by Pertamina. One of the participants, Dian Purnama Yanti, the owner of Moody Cake business, attentively followed the training on product photography using a mobile phone camera.

"I was taught how to take product photos and design them as attractively as possible through free applications. Previously, we thought that designing promotional products had to be done by experts and cost a lot. It turns out that through this training, we can do it ourselves. It is very beneficial for us MSME actors," said Dian.

Made Wahyu Santosa, the owner of Bali Ceria, a business producing packaged Rujak seasoning, expressed a similar sentiment. According to him, product legality, packaging design, and promotional materials serve as confidence-building elements for local MSME entrepreneurs when introducing their products to supermarkets or other modern markets.

"I have gained numerous benefits through the training organized by Pertamina through the Klungkung Rumah BUMN, enabling me to expand the marketing of my products, which are currently available in 200 outlets in Bali," said Wahyu.

MSMEs participants of the Klungkung Rumah BUM have received training consisting of 80% practical and 20% theoretical components. The topics covered include entrepreneurship, business certification (NIB/PIRT/Halal/others), logo design, social media marketing, product marketing strategies, and business meetings with local buyers, which are of particular interest to local MSME actors.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso added that through the Business Incubation program aimed at local MSMEs, Pertamina could enhance the capacity of its supported MSMEs while driving the pace of economic growth and the community’s welfare. "This way, we can support inclusive and sustainable economic growth, as well as a full and productive workforce," Fadjar added.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
