Padang, April 5, 2023 - West Sumatra Governor, Mahyeldi visited the Teluk Kabung Fuel Terminal in Padang to ensure the energy supply ahead of Eid al-Fitr in West Sumatra on Monday (3/4). The West Sumatra Governor's entourage was welcomed by Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut's Executive General Manager, Freddy Anwar, and Management officials conducting a field visit to Teluk Kabung, Padang on the same day.
Freddy explained to the West Sumatra Governor of Pertamina's readiness to welcome the homecoming crowd to West Sumatra. He stated that Pertamina's fuel and LPG supply and distribution is sufficient. The receiving and distribution facilities (Sarfas) at the Teluk Kabung IT, Minangkabau Aircraft Refueling Depot (DPPU), and distribution and sub-distribution institutions were in good condition and ready to serve.
"We guarantee that the stock of fuel and LPG will be safe during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. We will ensure that the energy needs of the community in West Sumatra are well-met," said Freddy.
Mahyeldi revealed that the traditional message of "pulang basamo" (returning home together) had been widely discussed by West Sumatra's migrant community on social media. "With the existence of the 'pulang basamo' tradition, I believe there will be a surge in homecoming traffic that will certainly require sufficient fuel and LPG supply," explained Mahyeldi during a discussion with Freddy and the Management team.
To ensure the distribution and energy supply governance in the North Sumatra region, where West Sumatra Province is included, Freddy has formed the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr (RAFI) 2023 Task Force team. The RAFI Task Force has started duty from April 1 until May 2, 2023.
Freddy predicted that there would be a surge in fuel and LPG consumption on H-7 Eid al-Fitr. "For Pertalite products, we predict a 29% increase in consumption from the daily average to 2331 KL/day, Pertamax consumption is predicted to increase by 53% to 459 KL/day, while Subsidized Solar is estimated to experience a 16% decrease from the daily average to 1066 KL/day," said Freddy. The decrease in consumption is due to logistics transportation starting their holiday before Eid al-Fitr. Regarding Avtur aircraft fuel, Freddy predicted a 16% surge in consumption from the daily average of 70 KL/day to 81 KL/day. "Well, LPG is also important because the Sumatran people's tradition when gathering is to have a meal together, so the consumption of 3 Kg LPG is also predicted to increase from the daily average of 360 MT/day to 392 MT/day," added Freddy.
In anticipating traffic congestion, Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut has also deployed mobile storage or pocket petrol stations (SPBU). Mobile storage is a tanker truck containing fuel on standby at petrol stations. The aim is to speed up the refueling process at petrol stations so that the fuel supply for consumers is maintained.
There are 16 pocket petrol stations spread across strategic and tourist routes, including Bukittinggi City, Payakumbuh, Sawahlunto, Lima Puluh Kota District, Agam, Padang Pariaman, Tanah Datar, Solok, Sijunjung, Dharmas Raya, and South Pesisi," said Freddy.
In addition, Pertamina in West Sumatra also provides additional services during the RAFI task force period, including 136 standby SPBU, 124 standby LPG agents, 359 standby Pertashop, three standby Posko, and five Motorcyclist. Motorcyclist is a delivery service for Pertamax/Dex Series fuel for consumers in crowded areas.
He added that his team has coordinated with local governments and law enforcement agencies to support the smooth energy distribution to the community. With the support and cooperation of all stakeholders, Pertamina is ready to serve the people of West Sumatra who are going to their hometowns this year.
"Thank you very much to Governor Buya Mahyeldi for being present and encouraging us, the Pertamina team, in order to succeed in providing services during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1444 H. With Buya Mahyeldi's support, we are ready to provide the best service to the people of West Sumatra," he said.
In front of the Pertamina task force team, Mahyeldi appreciated Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut in ensuring the availability of energy for the community and anticipating the increase in demand for fuel and LPG.
"Alhamdulillah, we also thank Pertamina for anticipating the increase in fuel consumption during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr," said Mahyeldi.
In this visit, the Governor of West Sumatra, with the Executive General Manager of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut, had the opportunity to greet and encourage Pertamina officers. In addition, Mahyeldi also met with the Tanker Crews (AMT), who will deliver fuel to the farthest points in West Sumatra. While greeting and having a dialogue, Mahyeldi presented Ramadan gifts to the AMT.
In addition to ensuring fuel stock, Mahyeldi symbolically placed the RAFI 2023 sticker on the fuel tanker. He also released a convoy of fuel tankers escorted by Patwal. "With the anticipation of pocket petrol stations and motorcyclist, this is certainly very positive. Hopefully, there will be no obstacles in fuel supply for drivers in West Sumatra. Good luck, Pertamina officers," said Mahyeldi.
