Jakarta, October 15, 2020 – The amount of help given by PT Pertamina (Persero) Partnership Program for the fabric industry continues to increase. Until 2020, the amount given to the industry is around IDR 83 Billion. This is Pertamina's effort to support their Fostered MSMEs to Go Modern, Go Digital, and Go Global.
One receiver of the Partnership Program benefits in the fabric industry is Meeta Fauzan. This designer is also a boutique owner in Coblong, Bandung City has long been in this field. "I started my business in 1994. In the beginning, I only design regular clothes for going to school or parties and more. In 2003, I started to focus on Muslim clothing," said Meeta.
It is precisely in this field that the business in which she is running has begun to increase. Until its peak in 2018, Meeta had the opportunity to showcase her clothes under the Paris Eiffel Tower. There, Meeta brought her mainstay clothes. Namely, Muslim clothing with typical Indonesian patterns combined with woven fabrics and batik.
However, lately, her business has also been hit by the impact of Covid-19 pandemic. Not immediately discouraged, Meeta racked her brain to find a solution so that her business could survive. One of them is by implementing a sociopreneur-based business. For anyone who buys fashion products, part of the proceeds will be donated in masks for those in need.
"That method is quite successful. My product sales started to rise again. However, over time people tend to just donate. Until finally, the donation money collected amount to as much as IDR 60 million," said the woman who was born on March 9, 1969.
Meeta did not expect to collect that much money. Finally, money is not only in the form of masks. Instead, it was used to buy groceries. It was distributed to several orphanages and batik crafting villages—especially the batik artisans in Cirebon, where Meeta gets the raw materials for making her products.
This Pertamina fostered partner, who just joined in 2020, prices work at quite various prices. It ranges from IDR 80 thousand for headscarves and the most expensive at IDR 3 million for Muslim clothing with a high production complexity level. With that selling price, she could get a turnover of around IDR 30 million per month. "All of my products can be seen through social media @meetafauzan," she said.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, added that the efforts to Go Global for Pertamina's fostered MSME partners can be done in various ways. One of them is like what Meeta Fauzan did. Also, other efforts have been arranged in the Partnership Program. "There is a business forum and business matching with foreign buyers to introduce our MSMEs products to foreign buyers. The concept of sociopreneur that is applied can also be imitated by other MSMEs so that many people can felt the benefits, "said Fajriyah.
Before that, Pertamina will pay more attention to essential guidance first. Such as helping to obtain business permits or other certificates. After that, Pertamina will push traditional MSMEs to Go Modern, Go Digital, Go Online, and Go Global. "This is an implementation of the Goal 8 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is hoped that it can help people get decent jobs and encourage national economic growth, "concluded Fajriyah.**
