Expanding MSMEs’ Market, Pertamina and KAI Collaborate to Launch MSME Vending Machine at Gondangdia Station

Jakarta, January 22, 2024 – To expand the market for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) partner products, PT Pertamina (Persero), in collaboration with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), officially inaugurated the MSME Vending Machine at Gondangdia Station on Monday (22/01). Pertamina's MSME Vending Machine at Gondangdia Station will display more than 20 products from 10 fostered MSMEs, available 24 hours a day.

The inauguration event was attended by Arya Mahendra Sinulingga, Special Staff III to the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, representing Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Erick Thohir; Brahmantya S Poerwadi, Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina (Persero); and R. Agus Dwinanto Budiaji, EVP of Corporate Secretary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero).

The Minister of SOE, Erick Thohir, through Special Staff III Arya Sinulingga, expressed the importance of assisting MSMEs through strategic measures to strengthen the MSME ecosystem. It is achieved by creating mutually beneficial collaborations between MSMEs and SOEs while empowering MSMEs by providing opportunities for promotion.

"This vending machine operates automatically and can be used 24 hours a day. Products from MSMEs can be sold directly to consumers. Train passengers or people at the station can purchase MSME products anytime. This aligns with Minister Erick's directive to provide broader market access for MSMEs, especially in busy and strategic locations such as train stations," explained Arya.

The placement of the vending machine provides facilities for MSMEs to utilize SOE’s assets as spaces for MSMEs, strategically located amid train passengers' traffic in the food and beverage tenant area. It offers opportunities for MSMEs to increase awareness, reach target markets, and strengthen the product image in society.

Corporate Secretary of Pertamina, Brahmantya S Poerwadi, added that the vending machine at Gondangdia Station currently offers 27 snack products from 10 prominent MSMEs. Customers can choose products with easy payment transactions using the Indonesian Standard QR Code (QRIS).

"The presented products have undergone strict curation processes to guarantee the products' quality received by customers, which already have food production and halal certificates," he said.

MSME products’ presence at KAI Gondangdia Station demonstrates Pertamina's ongoing support for empowering MSMEs as part of efforts to improve the local economy.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that this Pertamina vending machine is the first of its kind. In the future, Pertamina will add similar vending machines in several other strategic locations. "Through MSME vending machines, Pertamina is ready to support local communities and MSME players in expanding their markets to achieve economic independence," explained Fadjar.

Meanwhile, Sucipto, the owner of a Pertamina-fostered processed fish and shrimp MSME with the brand Fish Snack, expressed appreciation for this vending machine sales facility. He hopes that with the spread of Fish Snack products in public facilities, MSME market access will further open up, allowing MSMEs to grow, expand their marketing, and eventually become economically independent MSMEs.
