First Hearing: Indonesian Parliament's Commission VI Supports Pertamina's 2025 Strategic Programs

Jakarta, December 3, 2024 – PT Pertamina (Persero) has committed to aligning its corporate work programs with the "Asta Cita" mission of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration. This commitment was emphasized by the President Director of Pertamina, Simon Aloysius Mantiri, during a Hearing Session (RDP) with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) at the Parliament Building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

During this first hearing, Simon Aloysius Mantiri introduced the entire board of directors of Pertamina, including the Holding, Sub-holdings, and subsidiaries of the Pertamina Group, to Commission VI of the DPR RI for the 2024–2029 period.

"We have aligned Pertamina’s vision and mission with the Asta Cita mission, particularly in point two, which focuses on energy independence, and point five, which emphasizes downstream industrialization and adding value," Simon explained.

To support energy self-sufficiency, Simon outlined various strategic programs that Pertamina will undertake, including increasing oil and gas production, developing gas infrastructure, building domestic refineries, promoting green energy initiatives, and advancing domestic industrial downstream.

Meanwhile, Deputy President Director of Pertamina, Wiko Migantoro, reiterated the company’s commitment to maintaining national energy security, contributing to the country, and benefiting the Indonesian people.

"Pertamina's business is integrated from upstream to downstream and focuses on ensuring the availability of national energy," Wiko stated.

To achieve national energy security, Wiko highlighted that Pertamina continues to enhance oil and gas production. Between 2020 and 2023, Pertamina’s oil and gas production grew by 7% annually.

"Nationally, Pertamina contributes 69% of crude oil and 34% of gas from upstream production," Wiko elaborated.

To distribute upstream energy nationwide, Pertamina leverages its Gas and Commercial & Trading Sub-holdings. Pertamina's Gas Sub-holding manages a transmission pipeline network spanning 5,900 kilometers and a distribution pipeline of 27,000 kilometers. Meanwhile, its Commercial & Trading Sub-holding oversees a fuel distribution network with 15,000 retail points.

"Energy distribution across Indonesia is further supported by the Integrated Marine Logistics Sub-holding, which strengthens the supply chain from upstream to consumers," Wiko added.

Wiko also noted that Pertamina has implemented solid digital systems for upstream and downstream operations. The company has achieved 100% digitalization in subsidized diesel distribution, with ongoing efforts to extend this transformation to Pertalite and LPG distribution. Digitalization ensures more accurate targeting of energy subsidies.

At the end of the hearing, Adisatrya Suryo Sulistio, Chairman of Commission VI, read the session’s conclusions, expressing the Commission's support for Pertamina’s 2025 strategic work programs, which aim to achieve national energy self-sufficiency.

Additionally, Commission VI encouraged Pertamina to ensure energy’s equitable distribution and accessibility, improve the distribution system for subsidized fuel and gas, maintain fuel quality, sustainably transform its business, and accelerate the transition to renewable energy.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.
