Fostering More Than 9,400 MSEs in the Service Sector, Pertamina Appreciates Small Businesses Providing Many Jobs

Jakarta, June 27, 2021 – PT Pertamina's (Persero) support for micro and small enterprises (MSE) to boost the national economy continues to be encouraged. Through the MSE Funding Program, Pertamina distributes business capital in all business sectors. One of them is the service sector with a high percentage of the number.

Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, explained that of the approximately 65 thousand MSEs fostered by Pertamina, 14.5 percent of them are MSEs in the service sector. "The number is more than 9,400 MSEs, the second largest after the trade sector, namely 25 thousand foster partners," she said.

With this amount, Pertamina seeks to provide a portion of coaching that is following the business needs. MSEs in the service sector requires a lot of skills to run their business.

"In this sector, coaching is more focused on training efforts, providing workshops, and other practical efforts so that the skills of the fostered partners can improve so that they can become an upgraded MSEs," explained Fajriyah.

Business in the service sector is one of the MSE sectors with a large number of workers. Therefore, it also supports the 8th Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation, providing decent jobs and supporting economic growth.

One of Pertamina's partners engaged in this sector is Aji Komara. The owner of this Masterprint.id business has started a printing and digital printing service business since 2016. Despite ups and downs, his business is now successful. Masterprint.id has now brought in profits of up to more than IDR 100 million every month.

Aji can achieve one of his ambitions by becoming an entrepreneur, providing many job opportunities for the people around him. The printing and digital printing business located at Jalan Cikiray No. 26, Kebonjati, Cikole, Sukabumi City, West Java, has employed nine people.

According to Fajriyah, through the MSE Funding Program, Pertamina wants to provide energy that moves the economy--energy that fuels and energy that produce sustainable growth.

Pertamina also supports SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) point 8 achievements through implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-based programs in all of its operational areas. It is part of the environmental and social responsibility to realize economic benefits in the community.
