Jakarta, July 13, 2021 – After a series of initial debriefing activities, Pertamina UMK Academy 2021 participants from the Go Online class are now entering the coaching stage. The activities that lasted for two days on Thursday (8/7) and Friday (9/7) were carried out virtually. This activity also became a place of complaints from the participants in this Go Online class.
Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, said the series was different from the previous activities, where participants would be mentored individually by experts appointed by Pertamina.
"In this session, participants will be given the freedom to ask questions, convey business obstacles, and share anything about their business face to face with one mentor. Then the mentors will try to come up with a solution and see the progress at the next meeting," explained Fajriyah.
The coaching activity was attended by around 81 participants who were micro and small enterprises (MSEs) assisted by Pertamina. They are from various regions in Indonesia. To facilitate assistance, the committee gave each participant 45 minutes. After that, continue to alternate with other MSEs one by one.
Pertamina has appointed five mentors to be more effective. They are Satya Bilal, Alya Mirza, Rininta Hanum, Nila Kresna, and Aurelius Kuhuwael. They are experts who have experience in digital marketing from the MarkPlus Institute, a partner entrusted by Pertamina in assisting participants in the 2021 UMK Academy event.
One of the participants who joined in the Coaching session was Sukma Taris. The owner of Jenk'Ranaa Instant Seasoning MSE spoke about the growth of her company after being assisted by Pertamina during her session. It starts from a production increase of up to 20 percent to a 4-fold increase in turnover at certain moments. "During the pandemic, my business were not too affected, so I was still able to survive," said Sukma Taris.
In addition, there is also Arni Pabunga. The owner of the Kandora Coffee business from Tana Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi, told about the beginning of her business. Namely, starting from the decision to retire early from her job in Jakarta and return home to entrepreneurship. "I want to take advantage of the potential of Toraja coffee that is around where I live," she said.
Both Sukma and Arni were quite happy with the coaching method applied to the coaching session. According to them, mentoring can be done more privately and targeting each individual. Therefore, the solutions provided are also more specific and not generally compared to coaching by involving many people.
According to Fajriyah, through the MSE Funding Program, Pertamina wants to provide energy that can move the economy--energy that fuels and energy that produce sustainable growth.
Pertamina also supports SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) achievements through implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-based programs in all of its operational areas. It is part of the environmental and social responsibility to realize economic benefits in the community.**
