Go Green, Pertamina Patra Niaga Prepares Charging Station and Battery Swapping Station for Electric Vehicles

Jakarta, November 21, 2021 - As a company that distributes energy needs, Pertamina Patra Niaga Sub Holding Commercial & Trading of PT Pertamina (Persero) is committed to carrying out the mandate given. Ensuring sustainable service, Pertamina Patra Niaga participates in the energy transition in the automotive and energy fields, such as electric vehicles.

President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, SH C&T, Alfian Nasution, stated that energy transition is a challenge and opportunity for the company.

"Today, many automotive industries are starting to introduce electric vehicles in Indonesia. In the future people will be interested in it. Of course, this is a disruption for us as SOEs providing fuel oil products, but we see this as an opportunity to take advantage of Pertamina's retail network. Pertamina supports electric vehicles ecosystem acceleration," said Alfian.

To support electric vehicle ecosystem acceleration, Alfian said Pertamina Patra Niaga has operated 5 (five) units of Charging Station located at Pertamina petrol stations. The charging station is an innovation for future energy needs, integrated into a new concept of environmentally friendly petrol stations, namely the Green Energy Station (GES) inaugurated last August.

Since charging stations utilization, Pertamina Patra Niaga continues to monitor transactions. The amount of electric power used to charge electric car batteries. From February to October, at least more than 1,500 charging electric cars with a total reaching more than 45 thousand kWh.

"Currently, the majority usage of charging stations at Pertamina's GES petrol stations are by public transport and online taxis as our partners in developing the downstream ecosystem of electric vehicles. However, about 10% are used by private vehicle users. It is an opportunity we want to take. We will use petrol stations' strategic location for the development of downstream electric vehicle infrastructure," continued Alfian.

In addition to charging stations, Alfian said that currently, Pertamina Patra Niaga is also preparing outlets and battery swapping station (BSS) services for electric motors, which will also be located at several GES gas stations in the Jakarta area.

"Just like charging stations, outlets, and BSS services, we will try to develop them first with partners. We are targeting that the BSS program will run as soon as possible following the company's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). Namely, providing better energy access for the community as an effort to encourage carbon emission reduction, and to support the acceleration of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia," concluded Alfian.**
