Jakarta, May 22, 2021 - PT Pertamina (Persero)'s commitment to helping micro and small businesses (MSEs) amid a crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic is getting stronger. It is proven by the increasing number of partners of the Pertamina MSE Funding Program each month. Until the first quarter of 2021, for example, at least 170 MSEs have joined.
This number has contributed to Pertamina's overall number of fostered partners, which has grown to over 65 thousand MSEs across Indonesia since 1993. Each MSE empowers many workers to help the economy around their environment.
"If we average 1 MSE has four workers, and each worker has at least three family members. There are more than 1 million people who have benefited from this program," said the Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman.
Fajriyah explained, from the hundreds of new fostered partners (MB) in the first quarter, the majority was dominated by the trade sector as much as 116 partners. The industrial sector has 26 partners, and the service sector has 14 partners. "The rest comes from the fisheries, plantation, agriculture, and livestock sectors," she added.
Pertamina, continued Fajriyah, did not limit MSEs from any sector to join as foster partners. All will be nurtured and assisted until they become an upgraded MSE by going through several coaching roadmaps starting from the Go Modern, Go Digital, Go Online, to export their products and become Go Global MSEs.
The fostered partners will receive several benefits. It starts from assistance to get a certificate or business license, becoming an upgraded MSE, increasing turnover, production capacity, and workers, and becoming a Go Global MSE.
According to Fajriyah, through the MES Funding Program, Pertamina wants to provide energy that can move the economy--energy that becomes fuel and energy that generates sustainable growth.
Pertamina continues to promote SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) point 8 accomplishments by implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) based programs in all of its operational areas. It is part of the environmental and social responsibility to realize economic benefits in the community.**
