Benar Field, May 31, 2024 – The effort to increase production through the Integrated Drilling, Engineering, Supervisory, and Services (IDESS) collaboration between Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) Sumatra Region, Pertamina Upstream Sub-holding and Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia (Pertamina Drilling) has begun to show positive results. PHR successfully drilled its first well in the Benar Field, Rokan Work Area (WA).
PHR, with Pertamina Drilling, successfully drilled the first well in the Benar Field, Rokan WA, on Thursday (23/05). The drilling used rig PDSI 49.2 with 550 horsepower (HP). This is an exploitation (development) well for PHR production.
EVP Upstream Business PHR Rokan WA, Edwil Suzandi, stated that this first well drilling is a form of commitment between PHR and Pertamina Drilling in supporting national energy security and increasing production in the Rokan Work Area.
"This is a major milestone in the IDESS contract implementation. The hope is that this synergy will benefit the company and support national energy security," said Edwil.
"This positive achievement was made possible with reliable performance prioritizing safety and security. We ask for your prayers for continued safety and smooth operations in the future," he added.
The IDESS program between PHR and Pertamina Drilling was formalized through a cooperation agreement signed on February 26, 2024. This collaboration is part of the effort to deliver the best performance for PHR's operational activities, particularly drilling, which is a priority in the Rokan Block, one of Indonesia's largest crude oil producers.
According to Edwil, through the synergy and collaboration between Pertamina's subsidiaries, PHR and Pertamina Drilling, it is hoped that they can improve their ability to deliver quality wells safely and efficiently. This cooperation includes drilling services for eight years, consisting of four units of 550 HP Drilling Rigs, two units of 750 HP Drilling Rigs, and other related resources.
With IDESS, it is expected that Pertamina Drilling can enhance its capabilities by implementing reliable project management and investing in new rigs and other service equipment to support PHR in achieving production targets.
"PHR is committed to delivering the best performance for reliable and safe operational activities, particularly drilling, which is a priority, aiming to maintain national energy security," emphasized Edwil.
Vice President of Corporate Communication Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that Pertamina will continue to drive increased oil and gas production for national energy security.
"Pertamina continues to strive to increase upstream production to support national energy security and independence," said Fadjar.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
